They do a lot more trapping with their o-line. We're pretty straight ahead/zone blocking-oriented. Also, more sweeps, counters, and draws, so the timing on their run plays has more diversity.
Please say more, I've always assumed similarity.

Iowas offense is just trying not to screw up and Wiskys offense is trying to score as many points as possible.

This is the main difference I thought about... we do appear to pull a guard on ocassion. It seems like we do more three WR sets now and even go to empty backfield more than Wisconsin.

Wisconsin's running game is much more variable than Iowa's. They run a lot more pull plays, sprint draws, and toss sweeps. They also run some inside/outside zone plays. Wisky also varies how they run each of those plays. Iowa pretty much runs inside/outside zone. They run basic Iso and dives too.
They'll run 3-4 variations of just their basic power play. Use the TE in motion as the lead blocker or backside seal,pull guards, tackles, center at different times. Chyst is a great offensive coordinator. So tough to get a read on what they're doing.

Thanks. I thought we put the TE in motion quite often. We also ran that weird formation with the TE in the backfield just offset from the RB against MSU I think. Do you think our lack of variation this year had to do with personnel? Marcus is pretty much a north south runner.

philosophically similar. run the ball, set up play action, etc.
scheme wise relatively similar but as already mentioned wisc has more gap scheme than iowa. iowa more zone. iowa however is running more gap blocking schemes now than before. wisc isnt afraid to attack the flanks as you see tonight. speed at rb position helps.
wisc bigger up front, more physical, maul you. iowa more finesse up front (horizontal movement). wisc more explosive at rb.

wisc never afraid to have a few wrinkles even if they are a relatively newer trend. id have a heart attack if i saw iowa run a fly sweep package play like wisc just did for the td.
