Rodney Coe's New Twitter Avatar

After reading this whole thread all at once i have a few thoughts...

If Vandenburg was holding pistols in the air like that it would be frowned upon just like Coe. If Coe shot a bear with a bow and arrow he would be applauded just like Vandy. Quit pulling the race card! Its 2012 and we have a black president. Get over it!

Also if any of you called me "brah" in public i would backhand you in front of your girlfriend. I dont care if your black, white, red etc.

And finally..
So your against guns Bruce Springsteen ? I suggest you arm yourself. The Zombie apocalypse is coming!

actually i only was implying you to be ignorant and lack common sense. next time i will be more straight forward with it. i never claimed anything with racism...you did. so basically you are saying that my nurse analogy means people that think that are sexist...that proves your ignorance. there are racial biases on whites, blacks, asians, and everyone...that doesnt mean someone is racist. obviously your ignorance leads you to keep projecting things on me. i am sure you have a picture of who you think i am and what you think i do in your mind those are your assumptions and biases coming out. but again i dont expect you to understand that because you cant differentiate what i am getting at from your own preconceived notions and projections.

my comparison of the country boy with a shotgun and this pic was to say that many people will see the country boy and think well he is from the country most of those kids have guns...not a big deal (when it should be just as bad as this). where as many because of a racial bias will think rodney is trying to be gangsta. i cant remember the poster but after he said that it looked like he was just posing with 2 guns that were found in a garage in western iowa as a look what we found pic...i looked at the pic and really i am kind of thinking he is right. but again a racial stereotype pops into minds first. it was still a bad decision.

racist.

Ok, I went through some of this thread, but couldn't finish it, but hurried to the end to add my perspective.

First off, there is nothing more awkward than a bunch of white men discussing racial issues. Second, hey, I'm your black friend!

My two cents, not a smart picture to take, but if he was trying to look gangsta, he's not fooling anyone. In his right hand, he's clearly holding either a one shot paintball pistol or a tranq gun. His left hand holds a .22 that looks like a target pistol that can't take down anything bigger than a cat. He's standing in a farm field, wearing a bright white belt, and white dock shoes with black socks?

Honestly, as a black man, his fashion sense is the most appalling thing to me, not his wanna-be gangsta play guns. We have an image to uphold here.

That being said, trying to act hard like that, even when you're clearly not, is not a smart message to be broadcasting. That's Dominque Douglas territory.

Lot's of fail here.
Just saying......

His right hand is holding a heavy-barreled .22 target pistol(probably a Ruger as Lat already pointed out).
His left hand is holding what looks to be a Glock, though it could be some other brand of polymer-framed pistol in the .357 SIG -- .40 S&W range.....

Needless to say, both weapons can take down animals larger than a cat...
Also needless to say, because scorpio already said it, he's not practicing safe firearms use at all here. No matter what the position of the slides, BOTH firearms could have loaded magazines in them. Placing his fingers on the triggers suggests too many action movies, and not nearly enough training/knowledge/respect.......for many things.

I don't know how much of the first paragraph is addressed towards me, but I did not call you a racist, and I am sorry if you inferred that I did. I have not read any of your posts on this issue, and I have no issue with you personally, nor do I think that anyone here has made a racially insensitive remark that I find offensive.

That said, I called the conversation awkward, which it is, because white guys trying to discuss racial issues is like a film critic reviewing a movie he hasn't seen.

See here is proof again. You cant be racist towards whitey.

Either one of the guns he's holding could and would kill a human.

I have shot lots of guns in my life and I own more than I can count right now but the only time I have ever held 2 guns at the same time was to help a buddy cross a fence.

I have friends who shoot for sport, go to the range, etc, and sometimes will pose with guns. However, they are not Juco Fb players who have ambitions of playing at the next level. Probly not a wise choice of avatar

Do they pose like they are in a gang? lol Probably not....Only thing missing in this picture is a bunch of money at his feet...

racist.

i made a comment on public perception. you make comments that show you lack understanding. you pigeonhole me based off a comment that you obviously have a lack of comprehension over. i am sorry you cant get over your own preconceived notions and biases to approach my view from a better way. i was looking for intelligent conversation on the topic of racial bias because i feel it has application here. it is a good thing others have more understanding insight and views but sadly you do not. ignorance is bliss i gues and being naive to the world is just sad.

I loved this post.

This guy never came to Iowa. He's never going to come to Iowa. Can we please stop talking about him? Let's talk about players that we actually want, and that actually want to be here.

Last night I had a Pappardelle Pasta with Texan Wild Boar.

Awes.

I am sure the boar was put down compassionately by lethal injection whilst reclining comfortably on a futon. Because, you know, "Guns are stupid and serve absolutely no purpose".

Hey Im not gonna help you start the race fires pal.

First of all, I was obviously speaking with a bit of hyperbole.

Second of all, his right hand (our left) is clearly holding some sort of a single-shot, chamber-loading, pull action pistol. Whatever it is, be it a paintball gun, an air pistol, or a tranq gun...it's not killing anyone.

Obviously, you can try to back-pedal all you want.

You're still wrong about that .22 he's holding.
Sorry, you are.......

This OBVIOUSLY isn't the same EXACT pistol.
But it's in the same "family"......
Look familiar??????? ;)
Sure does.

Your gun knowledge impresses and frightens me all at the same time...:D

Correct, AE. Coe is holding a Ruger 22/45 with a bull barrel.
And Oates, it IS a deadly weapon. Anyone who thinks a .22 rimfire won't kill a person is an uninformed fool.
