Sorry Jon, but I have to fully disagree with you. What I see is a guy carrying a couple of guns next to an open field. One would assume, given we know he's in western Iowa (the open field is a dead giveaway), he's showing off a couple of weapons he got from such garage.

Yes, it might be good that he isn't coming to Iowa given his previous posts, but this is a stretch. If there was a post alongside this saying something, please let us know. Outside of that, I would take it back. Just my opinion, but I didn't see that photo showing him holding guns in a garage/field being a horrible call.

This day and age, it's just better to stay away from posting pics of guns, period.

Regardless of how he is dressed (I know you aren't basing your comment on it), it looks like he is posting a pic of himself on some time off.

People suggesting Jon is racist is off. Please tell me how you can draw what he has done overall on this site and in general as such.

People can think and post what they want to here. Everyone has a different opinion. For those who want to think its racist to suggest that making your twitter avatar a pic of you holding two handguns in this day and age is a bad idea, have at it. But I think we've covered some of that ground, and those who suggest that there is some racial aspects involved here only do so because of the photo hitting on a stereotype....which is all the evidence you need to suggest that it was a poor decision to make a pic like this your avatar if you are Rodney Coe. Fairly elementary and the point the objectors are trying to make actual support that opinion.

racial bias doesnt mean you are racist. it means that you have preconceived notions. almost everyone has a racial bias.

when i ask you to picture what a nurse looks like most would think of a woman...that is a sexual bias...doesnt mean you are sexist. racial bias is the same.

if you are racist you have a racial bias. but just because you have a racial bias doesnt mean you are racist.

every poodle is a dog but every dog isnt a poodle.

Anybody who thinks this picture isn't Rodney Coe trying to look gangster is out in left field. This pose is no different than some white kid dressed in Hilfiger posed in exactly the same way... trying to be gansta. To compare this with some white country kid posing with a shotgun is equally nuts. When was the last time you saw a "real" gansta toting a shotgun? I suppose it happens, but shotguns are for hunting and handguns aren't. And to think he's posing like this because he's likes to shoot targets for sport... give me a break. This isn't racist... it's just stupid. He's trying to look gansta, plain and simple.

This doesn't prove anything to me and especially doesn't prove "perhaps it's all for the best". Completely disagree with that comment. Perhaps it's all for the best that Garmon or Malloy don't come to Iowa either. I just think people are looking way too much into a, VERY disputable, controversial picture when you look at the mistakes other recruits coming into Iowa have made that Iowa has allowed into the program. The relationship between Iowa and Rodney Coe could very well be over, but you are going to have a tough time convincing me that a, again I stress very disputable controversial picture was the cause of it.

I don't even think that was the icing on the cake. I am more inclined to believe that the relationship was beyond repair before the picture was used as a twitter avatar. I just don't believe that this picture was the reason that Rodney Coe is not coming to Iowa and it doesn't indicate to me that perhaps its for the better when other incoming recruits have made worse mistakes.
