Being good enough to turn down a stupid scam tournament like the CBI is progress.

Since when is Iowa good enough to turn it down? Thanks to the Big Ten, we'd turn down an invite even if we were 0-31 or 31-0. I don't call maintaining the status quo "progress". That's the antithesis of progress.

If the kids want to play accept the offer. If Gattens wants a couple more games as a Hawk, who are you to say your above their offer.

Fortunately the conference as a whole is above the CBI. Cooler heads have prevailed.

Which is crap. It'd be in the better interest of the teams like Iowa, or Penn State, etc. to accept a bid to a postseason tournament, regardless of what tier it is. Any postseason tournament is progress for those kinds of programs. If Michigan State or Ohio State wouldn't want a bid, fine, more power to them. But it could actually be helpful to the programs that have fallen on tough times.

Every game gives the young guys more experience and the seniors another game as a Hawk. If we can play another game then play another game IMO.

No sitting at home yet another post season is not progress. If Iowa has qualified to play in a post season tournament then they should play in it. Years from now when Iowa is making the NCAA tournament again on a consistent basis then they have the luxury of turning down tournaments like this.

This thinking makes no sense to me. What is the team going to learn in a CBI game against some scrub team that they didn't know before?

The record and results from the season are more indicative of success then the subjective process behind the selection of a post season tournament. We were good enough to make a post season, we just aren't because we don't want to, that's progress.

They learn countless things...how to prepare for a new opponent, in game adjustments, practices, film sessions, time with the coaches, etc. There are many more things which could be added to this list.

I understand the point of view from anyone not wanting to play in a 3rd or 4th tier tournament. I just disagree. The biggest thing may be the one and done nature of postseason play. The sophomores on the team have experienced this 3 times. The freshmen 2 times. All of these experiences were in the BTT against conference teams. Even 1 more game in any tournament adds to this experience...especially against teams (even "scrub" teams) outside of the BT.

I can't believe how many hawk fans there are that don't want to watch our team play again. I thought it was more common for people to actually want to watch their favorite team play games

I am indifferent to exhibition games.

that's why I said no biggie. its kinda weird tho to go on a message board regarding something you don't really care about. I would never go on a message board for synchronized swimming and talk about how much I didn't want to watch it
