possible lineup this fall

No, herby is now arguing about the actual positions there are on a basketball court. Once we have that settled perhaps we can move on to actually filling out the lineup. I was thinking of just starting 5 centers, thought that might be fun. Perhaps that could get Gabe out on the court so he can be that double double guy that herby keeps talking about.

5 point forwards.

nope it is you that argue the players positions, so ask them, because when i post players to be in the starting lineup i get ripped, so now the posting of lineups and position will be stated by the one with the right to do so.

anybody see the starting lineups for nat'l championship...i could be wrong but shouldnt herby call both coaches and let them know they dont know what a basketball lineup is.

kentucky - 3 forwards & 2 guards (no center)

kansas - 3 guards, 1 forward & 1 center (no true sf)

man how can they be in the championship not knowing you have to have 2 guards, 2 forwards & 1 center.

you should have watched as i quoted the person that i was questioning in Azhawkfan;; not you

No. You were clearly responding to me.

Do you even attempt to be maintain a coherent train of thought on here or do you just pick out random parts of random posts and start ranting and name calling?

No McCabe, No May?

Probably won't happen but it would be nice to see the Freshman be able to ease their way into the lineup.

My projected lineup at the start of practice:

PG Marble (Gesell & Clemmons)
SG Oglesby (Ingram)
SF May (Marble & Stokes)
PF White (Basabe & Meyer)
C McCabe (Woodbury & Olaseni)

Fall practice should be a lot of fun for us as fans and the coaches. They actually have talent both in the lineup and sitting on the bench. In a lot of cases these are players that can play multiple different positions and in an up tempo offense this is going to be huge. While my starting lineup may seem ridicules to some of you keep in mind 5 minutes into the game and we may see a completely different team out there and I think these incoming freshman will have to earn a starting spot. I cannot see someone like McCabe just giving up his starting job without a fight.

Its amazing how the memory works when you have consumed several adult beverages watching the championship game. I just won my pool so the beer is on me. I will agree with McCabe although I see him much like may, coming off the bench.

Like I said before I cannot see McCabe losing his starting job without a fight. I think May would be the most likely to lose his starting job much like he did this year. But a healthy May will be difficult to remove from the lineup as well, especially considering the is the only senior.

Again it is going to be interesting to see who wins these battles. It has been quite a while since we have seen Iowa have this many options where players could start at multiple positions. We could see the rotation go 12 or 13 players deep.

You are correct in that there are many variables...

that will be determined. If May is healthy, he can certainly contribute on defense. But at this point I'm not sure fans should expect much of anything for offense. But there is no way Fran can be counting on anything from May given his conference performance the last two years.

I could see McCabe continue to start, but my guess is playing time for all the interior players will vary depending upon matchups and who is playing well. Against teams with a strong interior presence (such as Ohio State or Indiana), Woodbury's size is probably needed. Against a team like Northwestern, maybe Woodbury doesn't play as much if he has to chase Northwestern's center around the 3-point line.

the key word for May is HEALTHY. his playing time will be dependent on his HEALTH he has shown his ability. as a freshman when he was fully healthy he had these #'s;
9 ppg
4.6 rpg
1.4 apg
.8 bpg
1.1 spg
31 mpg
now as a senior if he get fully healthy there's no reason to not see him putting those same #'s again if not better. but you won't see the 31 mpg because i feel nobody will have to.

Was he hurt his sophomore season too?

1 - gesell (tight battle with clemmons and basically split time)

2 - ogelsby (need a shooter on the court and he is the guy. ingram will be a defensive replacement as he is a major downgrade in shot, but ogelsby may make huge leaps in defense as he has the tools)

3 - marble (probably a 30+ minute guy with ogelsby and may backing him up and sparing minutes by white here)

4 - white (he is the motor to this team solid back up with starting ability of basabe. along with mccabe and meyer having time here)

5 - mccabe (he will likely start the yr here and eventually lose his spot to woodbury, if woodbury can be strong enough to play the garbage man role. basabe and meyer can also take minutes here. olaseni is a wildcard as he doesnt have near the court time the others do and would be like playing 4 on 5 on the offensive end)

i see an 11 man rotation if may is healthy. if not 10 man. i am not sold on olaseni and think he needs another yr before he will be ready. i believe ingram needs to develop a shot to balance with his slashing even if it is just a pull up mid ranger because at 6'2 it will be tough to finish consistently at the basket.

my lineup is
Gesell with Clemmons the backup, with Gesell getting 25 minutes a game
Marble with Oglesby and Ingram
White with May as his backup this allows getting one of the following 2 to start
Basabe or McCabe to start and Meyerto be the backup.
Woodbury gets the start with Olaseni the backup
and no White is not a three, this allows Fran to get the best 5 on the court
this also allows for a solid 2nd 5 that does not take way from the scoring on the bench
Clemmon
Oglesby
May
McCabe and Meyer
Olaseni and Meyer as he can play both
and in Fran's system you need bench scorers

There is a greater chance of you learning basic grammar and sentence structure than May putting up numbers anywhere near that next year. Why do you suppose Eric May averaged 9pts and nearly 5rpg that year?

so you are stating it as fact that May can't or won't?
