Atomic hits the nail on the head.....the teams need to mold themselves like the teacup being molded at the factory.keep molding and beating out the imperfections until the potter is satisfied with products. than paint it and bake it. fran needs to beat out bad habits bad attitudes weak defenses mold each players according to their skills, positions and etc
1.McCabe will never play the 3. He's too slow to defend the position.Assuming Iowa gets a SF wing player. Maybe a players like Jamail Jones from Marquette who is transferring. This is how I think the minutes will go late into big ten play.
PG. Mike Gesell 25 min Anthony 'Sapp' Clemmons 15 min
SG Devon Marble 25min Josh Ogelsby 13 min Pat Ingram 2 min
SF. *6 recruit 19 min Zach McCabe 19 min Eric May 2 min
PF. Aaron White 25 min Mel Basabe 15 min
C. Adam Woodbury 25 min Kyle Meyer 15 min
First off I think Fran goes up to Basabe and flat out tells him that he is going to have 15 min of play and during that 15 min Basabe is going to run his butt off and be hustle man like we saw during his freshman year. I believe that Basabe will score more with less time on the floor mainly because he is a pure hustle guy and with 15 min he can go all out and know that once he gets tired White will go back in. Speaking of White, with Basabe going all out for 15 min White will drive defenses crazy. Just when the opponents think they can relax with Basabe on the bench they'll jog back on D while White will be flying to the hoop for a easy layups.
I also believe that Meyer is another AW in the making. He is another guy that can give high energy for 15 min. He's taller and younger than AW and has the ability to shoot the ball.
I believe we see Zach move back to the SF position. Being on the floor with Marble and two other bigs will most likely put Zach against a SG on offense. Zach will have the mismatch of being able to back down smaller guards for easy post move scores. Zach has the ability to handle the ball and shoot the 3 so he is quite capable of playing the SF position.
Josh is the wild card on this team. Fran needs this guy to shoot early on in the game. If he's hot like in the games @Indiana and against MSU in the BTT then he gets more minutes. If he's cold then there is no need to play him with his struggles on D. When cold sit him on the bench until we need a 3 badly. Obviously this is when we have another 6'6 SF. on the team so if we don't have that 6 recruit than Josh will get more minutes with Marble sliding up to the SF position.
May and Ingram come in when we need Defensive stops.
Beginning to let go of the transfer possibility. If May is healthy, he plays 15+ min., if only for his D and experience. He's the only senior, period, and Marble the only junior in the backcourt. Marble will average 30 min. and White close to it- bank on it. I'm beginning to believe that without a transfer, JO may start for his O. Our D will get somewhat better just by having more formidable players in the lane. Beginning to believe Woodbury is a lock- it's odd to think, but he may be the most talented true C in Iowa history. We're just not used to great centers so it's hard to fathom. Name another that had more notoriety coming in against tough competition. Reiner didn't have all the accolades that Woody's had. He's playing better in exhibition games than Earl did most of his career. Marble will back up Gesell; Clemmons will mop up and give depth (an important commodity): admit it, he can't play PG better than Marble, at least as a frosh. Again, if May's healthy, I see an 8-man rotation of players having 15+ minutes:Assuming Iowa gets a SF wing player. Maybe a players like Jamail Jones from Marquette who is transferring. Woodbury- White- Oglesby- Marble- Gesell
McCabe- Basabe- May
Consider Marble a 1-2 or 3 if you like. He's likely to be strong enough for all 3 next year. It's really only a problem for those who need to conceive of traditional line-ups and, of course, teams that defend us.
Wood love it if someone like Olaseni or Clemmons surprised, if Basabe gained a jump-shot, if McCabe got quicker on the wing, but the above seems most likely w/o a transfer- if May is healthy.
May will not play 15 a game unless he improves dramatically. More like 5min a game.
Gessel and Clemmons will split time at the point. Clemmons will be the best perimeter defender on the team, Marble will probably not play the point at all.
IF May is healthy, that is a big IF, he will play significantly. I remember fans throwing Gatens under a bus too when he was struggling due to injury 2010-11. May is no Gatens but being the only senior, and an athletic defender, if he is able to play at the level Fran has seen him play at his best, he will.
Marble will back-up Gesell. It's simple. He's better than Clemmons at PG. Now if May can't play and we see no transfer, we'll see some players put in positions they're not ready for.

When is herby back? Or maybe the better question would be- Is herby ever allowed back?
it still amazes me how many people were down right vicious to some old man who had a stroke, just because he had really bad opinions. even more amazing was the fact that he got banned while all the normal people who constantly ripped on him never even got warned
