Pelini fired

People actually think that it was a close win vs us that got Pelini fired? People are dumb.

Just goes to prove that they will not stand for the status quo. If you aren't getting better than why invest time or money into anything. The total opposite of the University of Iowa.

People don't actually think that. Its just shorthand for how ******* depressing it is that even while Husker fans might be insane, at least they have high expectations. We're apparently content with mediocrity. Its the gap it shows between a winning program and a loser mentality is stark and it stings.

Just for comparison...Pelini had 9+ wins in every season he coached at Nebby, 7 straight seasons and finished ranked in 5/7 of those seasons...KF in 16 seasons has had 5 9+ win seasons and only finished ranked 5 times in 16 seasons (not ranked since 2009)...KF does have 2 BCS Bowl appearances and 2 B1G Ten Shared Championships. KF also has 5+ losses in 5 straight seasons (11 total seasons w/5+ losses), Pelini has never lost more than 4.

I'm ready to move on from Kirk too but Nebraska's delusion that they'll again be a national power has nothing to do with our situation.

But wait, how will they ever get a coach? Small state...limited recruiting base...etc etc?

Shouldn't they play not to lose...and keep him?

They surely already have their new coach lined up. There's no way you let 9 wins a season go on a chance that you end up with another Callahan.

This is true, it will not be possible for Nebraska to achieve top dog status again, they are more in the next in line, Wisconsin Msu category.

The category that Iowa used to be in.

makes me sick.

...If they hire right and they start getting top 10 classes, we are so screwed...

Apparently you haven't been paying attention. We are already "screwed". Re-watch Friday's performance and read JM's Decade of Average series.

dont know if Tressel is the answer.

They want stability, consistency, a big name with a National Championship, and most of all, someone who acts like Tim Osborne on the sidelines. Tressel provides all of the above.

9 wins since they have been in this conference is more like 7 anywhere else.

They're not putting a high caliber product on the field and they know it.

Please don't compare Nebraska's recruiting challenges to Iowa's. They recruit based on 5 national titles since 1970.

Thats all fine and dandy but wins arent everything.
Do his players work hard, graduate and stay out of trouble?

That's why we need a coach who can get the most out of his players by putting them in the best position to win with schemes, personnel decisions, play calling and clock management.

And one that can beat one of the worst teams in the country on semi regular basis.
