Pat Ingram commits to Iowa

I thought ingram was more of a slasher (strictly what I thought I heard) but I could be wrong. That'd be great if he was a PG type.

Now do they take 6 in the class or 5 and bank 1. I know it depends on who wants to come, but 5 or 6 freshman is a lot in 1 class. I think 1 needs to be a JC to spread them out a bit. Also, how many 2013 schollies are going to be open? May's?

That is correct. Barring any departures Eric May would be the only scholarship to open up the year after. I've got to imagine we are going to bank at least one, if not two from the 2012 class.

Ingram is closer to a 3 than he is a 1 in my opinion. This is a great pickup. Caff said that Ingram was the top on ball defender that he had seen all season. And he gives us that slashing off guard that we needed in this class.
Still plenty of room for Ray Lee also if he were to choose Iowa.

Definitly a JUCO slasher/scorer SF would be the next piece to the puzzle IMO, or even another big. Welcome to the Hawks Mr. Ingram.

info on Macon?

Elijah Macon 2012 Basketball Recruiting Profile - ESPN

Lots of questions on Macon. He seems to like Iowa but was a former WV commit and is attending a prep school in that state as well I believe. Realistically a longshot but who knows what can happen. As of now, you have to figure the staff is most focused on Woodbury, Macon, and Lee to fill out this class. Six frosh are a lot in a class though so I would rather see us get Woodbury and Macon and then either bank the last schollie or grab a Juco PF(assuming we don't get Macon).

Several articles coming out on Ingram's commit.
Interesting that one from Rob Howe, there is a quote from Ingram saying that the new practice facility was deciding factor.

How excited should i be about this?

If role players who struggle with shooting excite you then go crazy. He does fill the huge need in adding back court athleticism to the class.

I am still hoping Fran gets a water bug point guard, because once Cartwright leaves the point position will be in the lower half of the Big Ten in regards to athleticism again.

I love this momentum though. Man it feels good to here yes every once in awhile. Fran still needs to get the big one though to get it into high gear.

Is Woodbury the only offer we have remaining on the table?

I didn't see anyone answer this. That I can find, verifying is another matter, the following all have offers from Iowa.

Adam Woodbury - C
Elijah Macon - PF
Ray Lee - PG
Ka'Darryl Bell - PG
Phil Forte - PG
Jelon Hornbreak - SG
Gavin Thurmond - SF
Jake Layman - SF
DeJuan Marrero - SF
Elijah Macon - PF
Prince Ibeh - C

Also, I've read that Trey Dickerson - PG has one, but haven't seen anything to verify that.

As for your other question, adding Woodbury would make this a very good class. Adding him and Lee would be borderline top 25 class. Adding Woody and Macon would probably be a top 20 class. If they were to somehow get Woodbury, Macon and Lee to commit, I wouldn't care at all about how balanced the classes were, I'll take a top 15-20 class, even with 6 FR. Now, I doubt that will happen, it's not likely, but it's certainly possible.

Here's some video.

OK...so is this a pipe dream, or is there a legit chance the Hawks land this guy? He looks like just the sort of NASTY big we haven't had in a looong time.

He has said he's taking three visits, to West Virginia, Maryland and Iowa. The one to WV is the only one I've seen that he has lined up, but that doesn't mean he won't visit down the road. He was a WV commit as a FR, then decommited, and I've read he's a Maryland lean. But I've heard/read that he likes what he's heard from Fran. He's definitely a longshot, but not completely out of the question. If Fran can actually get a visit, I'd bet the chances go way up, considering he's from Big Ten country (Ohio).

Apparently Ingram was the best on-ball defender that McCaffery saw this summer.

This kid reminds me of a Mike Henderson.

I agree. If somehow Fran pulled in Woodbury and then West Va Prep school teammates Lee and Macon....stop the presses, balanced classes mean nothing to me in that case. It would be winning time!
Macon is an absolute monster on that video...a combo of Buck Williams with a Rasheed Wallace jump shot.
