Past NBA stars in today's game.

First of all that's an awful division. Love and Ibaka would do fine the others aren't special.

1) "Doing fine" is a far cry from "owning". Kevin Love would get beat to **** by Karl Malone. It would be a ******* bloodbath.

2) It's not just a division thing either (BTW the WORST team in that division is 13-15 on the year)... here are the PF's from the SW division, in included the Spurs (2nd best record in the west) the Mavs (defending NBA champs) as well as a solid Houston team.

Dirk Nowitzki
Lamar Odom

Louis Scola
Pattrick Patterson

Zach Randolph
Carl Landry
Jason Smith

Tim Duncan
Matt Bonner

I don't see a whole lot of ownage there.

Interesting side note. Karl and Tim have 25 games agaisnt each other in their careers. Karl averages 21-10. That's not exactly getting owned. Ohh BTW, of course that was of course the aging Karl Malone (last five years in the league) versus Tim Duncan in his prime.

Once again, Duff owns the thread. The Mailman was sick - I think he and DDP took on like half the wolfpack and won.

BTW isn't it funny that the career paths of the NBA and Pro Wretling are nearly identicle? Both rose from relative obscurity in the 80's. Peaked in the late 90's and slid after around 2000?

Mark Price was the purest shooter the game has ever seen(outside of myself of course).

I couldn't tell ya. I stopped watching NBA when the dudes you mentioned left. I think the same goes for about half of the fans of the NBA. A week into his career, the NBA is praying Lin can bring fans back because they are so desperate.

The Knicks, not the NBA, are hoping that Lin brings fans back. Most NBA teams are doing just fine. Those teams that struggle in the attendance department aren't any different than their NFL or MLB counterparts. They are mostly smaller market teams that are lacking star power.

I actually feel sorry for those that have bought into the idiotic notion that the NBA is full of thugs, no one plays defense, etc. They've clearly not been paying attention and they've missed some great basketball.

I worked for NBC Sports in the 90s during the Bulls dynasties. The league, top to bottom, is MUCH more competitive today thanks in part to the influx of international players.

Don't get me wrong, the stars of the past would still be damn fine players in today's game, but I think there are some that would go from "great" to "good."

In any case, the game you should turn off, if you must, is the college game. I don't git a damn if they "hustle" more, it's just isn't a good product.

Nice call (on Price, not sure about you :)). Price hit 289 out of 305 FTs (.948 %) in 1992-93 (6th all time). I like Ray Allen's form in the NBA myself (see below).

FYI ... 5th best all time FT % for a season - Jeff Hornacek (.95 % in 1999-2000). That's 171 out of 180 in the last year of his career.

How is he gonna keep up is my question. What's he gonna do vs. A transition team?
This has to be the most uninformed opinion I've ever seen on this site. I would have responded as quickly as Duffman, but it took a while to clean the soda off my computer screen.

There aren't really that many great post players in the NBA today. I don't know how anyone can say Malone wouldn't still be an an elite player.

Tell ya what. I'll help you out. Here are the all the opposing PF's for teams in the Jazz division that are averaging more than 20 min per game. You tell me which ones "would own" Karl Malone on the defensive end or on the glass.

Danilo Gallinari 6-10 225

Al Harrington 6-9 250

==============================

Karl is hanging 25 and 10 on these guys on a nightly basis.

Please cross out the 25 and put 35......

I find it weird that Malone wouldn't survive because he was soft when a majority of power forwards are either perimeter players or can't play defense at all.

That is what I was thinking. Malone would step in and be the toughest player in the league today by far.

I think half of the teams today would cry on the court if they had to play the Pistons of the late 80's.

Count me in that half as well Counselor.
