Past NBA stars in today's game.

This. Bird was slow for his own time and still won. His feet were slow, but his mind was two steps ahead of everyone else on the court.

I don't see the speed of the game being an issue for Legend, particularly in a more half-court setting. He would win today, just as he did in the 80s.

Players like Bird, Magic, Jordan, Aaron White you could put in any era and they would win. I'm sure there are others.

Ain't a lot of Christian Laettner's running around anymore.

The only reason he was even on the roster was because Coach K wouldn't take the job if Lattener didn't get a spot. His spot should gone to Hardaway, Isaiah, or Mark Price.

Jordan would own any era and its not even close....thats the difference betweem a lebron (or random other superstar besides drose) and jordan....jordan never would have left to team up with a dwade....he wanted to be the best on the own....Drose is actually kind of that way, lebron got mad bc Drose wouldnt even call him. I watched lebron, he will take quarters off.
Kobe is SOO much closer to MJ than Lebron will ever be.
What are you basing this on? As far as stats go lebron is superior to kobe. He is a better rebounder, passer, scorer. If I here you say intangibles or the way he carries himself I'm gonna throw up. Lebron>Kobe
How many rings does lebron have?

If LeBron had the same supporting casts that Kobe did when he got his rings, LeBron would have just as many. LeBron had absolutely no help in Cleveland. The Heat choked last year, but I don't expect that to happen this year.

And for the record, Karl Malone soft? Haha!

I would also add Dr. J, Derrick Rose, Jeff Moe, Brommer, Gatens and Penny Hardaway to the list.

Don't you dare stand within 3 feet of Jeff Moe when guarding him or you deserve that elbow that will hit you in the face. And it will hit you in the face.

Haha duff your funny. Lebron is 6-8 270 and plays aft. Who would he post up in todays league. Howard?

You do realize that there is only one of Dwight Howarad right? You do realize Malone played at the same time as Shaq who was twice as dominant as Dwight Howard will ever be.

There were way more great centers in the 90s than there are in todays game and the game was allot more physical.

You think the NBA is bigger and more athletic than it was ten to 15 years ago but it isn't. There are a few physical freaks like James, Howard, Rose and Griffin, but on average its the same. What is different is the skill level and lack of defense being played which leads to allot of highlights.

Getting back to the OP the league on the whole isn't more athletic than it was in the 90's. Before there was Dwight Howard there was Hakeem or Robinson. Before Blake Griffin there was Larry Nance. Before there was Derrick Rose there was Tim Hardaway. Before Kobe there was MJ and Clyde.

And before all of them there was David Thompson.

LOL are you seriously asking how the best transition PF in the history of the NBA is going to keep up in transition?

Duff I couldn't believe this question either. We are talking about the mail man, constantly noted for being in the best shape of anyone in the league and could run all day without getting tired.

This whole thread is a waste of time, this guy clearly has no clue what hes talking about.

Waste of time? Did you not watch the imbedded rasslin match between DDP and The Mailman versus Hollywood Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman?

Any mention of David Thompson is a good thing.

I don't think I ever saw Kobe quit on his team like Lebron did his last year with the Cavs. And Lebron is not even the guy on his own team that is going to get the ball when trailing late and needing a clutch shot, that job is D Wade's.

Can anyone do this today? And this was before they had those flimsy rims like they do today that go up and down.

The Mailman was a very interesting character, in addition to being one of the best NBA players ever.....

Cruising the highway and byways of America during the off-season.....

The Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia Warriors played some of the best basketball ever with Bill Russel and Wilt Chamberlain banging underneath the boards. Classic matchup. The winner would usually play the LA Lakers for the Championship. The Lakers had Jerry West, Elgin Baylor among other stars. Just about as good as basketball would get......

Later on the Celtics with Larry Bird would battle the Julius Erving and the Sixers for the right to fight the Magic Johnson led Lakers for the Championship. That was also as good as basketball would get......

The Golden Ages of Professional Basketball.....

I started to lose interest after the Jordan years at Chicago. The war between the Pistons and the Bulls was excellent basketball.....

Bird, Magic and Jordan were my personal favorites to watch. It was a pleasure to experience.....

:D

Chamberlain, maybe? Bill Russell retired 6 years prior to Jabbar joining the Lakers.

I did it once in HS, but it was one of those fan shaped backboards with no real support in the bottom.

Yeah, that's right, Wilt went to the Lakers after playing for the Philadelphis Warriors. He and Russel had many spirited contests during that period of time.....

Kareem and Magic played together on one of the best teams in Pro Basketball history.....

:)

Yep Bird was totally over matched athletically in his own day and still dominate the best of the best, and would do the same today.

Dirk Nowitzki is very hard to guard in todays game and he is no where near the player Bird was in any facet.

Bird just had so much natural gift for the game its not something that can be measured, same thing with Magic. Neither one was very athletic. They both had an innate unteachable ability to throw defenders off.

They were the two funnest players to watch ever

Birds post up game was better than Jordans, his vision and passing was equal to magics and his shot making ability was the best ever.

Kobe's quit before. LA-Phx First Round Game 7, 2006. Bryant scored only one point and took just three shots in the second half.

He also gave up in Game 7 of the NBA finals against the Celtics.
