Our big win out the window?

I have a couple of thoughts...just my opinions.

RPI - I'm only worried about it if we're on the bubble...and we won't be. I know it impacts seeding, etc. However, I think Iowa is going to be in the conference race to the end and if healthy will be the favorite to win the BTT. If we finish in the top 3 and win the BTT we will be looking at a 2 or 3 seed. Do both and we're a 1 seed. I think this season really has to go in the tank for us to do worse than a 6 seed. If we're a 6 seed so be it. We're good enough to beat any 11 or 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Minnesota - I think there is way too much hand wringing over this game. So many mention how tough it is to win on the road in the Big 10...thus the Ohio State loss. The next post is then about how we have to take this Minnesota team seriously. Which is it? It's tough to win on the road and we're the better team. We should win this game without too much trouble.

Also, we've had a week to prepare. Minnesota has 2 days and has to travel. We are very likely going to be ranked in the top 10 this week and I feel this ranking is deserved and has been earned. A decent Minnesota team should not be coming onto the home floor of a top 10 team and getting a road win. I think we will go undefeated at home but if we don't I will be shocked if it's Minnesota that prevents this from happening.

Edit - And these rodents are actually going to play up tempo...up tempo against us in Carver. Good luck Gophers. You're going to need a lot of it.

Edit 2 - Are the Minnesota big men even going to be participants in this game? How are they possibly going to get up and down the court with our front court? No way.

I disagree with this. Eliason is a solid rebounder, but none of their forwards are averaging 7 points per game and Eliason is the only one averaging more than 3.3 boards per game. Minnesota is going to be a tough out at the Barn for just about everyone, but they are completely centered on their guard play (four guards are averaging at least 9.9 ppg, led by Dre Hollins at 15.9 ppg). Assuming they make the tourney, they'll be dangerous with that backcourt.
I have seen them play a couple of times and I believe their post players could be a lot more effective if their guard play was less selfish. That might be part of the coaching philosophy as Rick Sr. runs a guard heavy offense.

The level of OSU is not the issue. Iowa's success and failure falls directly on their own shoulders. This game was all about getting over the hump on the road. Iowa has proven that top 10 teams on the road are beatable whether OSU is top ten or not. They have held double digit leads on 3 other top ten teams away from home. OSU game was about closing, which they finally did. I think if they had the same situations today that they had earlier in the year at ISU and Wiscy.

This is all well stated. I even have to admit I am a bit nervous about this game - and I am not even sure why? Rust for a week off perhaps? Hawks history still in the back of my mind? Dunno....

5 minutes to go Minny ahead, makes me feel sick... wondering what you guys think...

If our big win went out the window with Minny's win over O$U, I'd say Indiana's big win over Wisconsin fell from the top of Chicago's tallest building after losing to NW in Assembly Hall. That is one atrocious loss and waste of a huge win from earlier in the week!

I chuckled over this, thank you.....
