OT - Streaming

Don't you go to the Iowa games, though? My biggest fear is latency in Iowa games because I like to be the first one to bash Ferentz on the internet when someone makes a mistake.

The new synonym for "streaming" is "latency". You will NEVER be "up to speed" with streaming, unless/until everything is giga+ speed across entire backbone and network. As of right now, that's just fact.

Others are gonna have about a 30 second head start on you to begin bashing if they are watching on cable or satellite, if you decide to cut the cord

I refuse to buy any apple products on principle. I'm a PC guy.

Just put your Apple bias away just this once, it is clearly the best product on the market for streaming. It supports all the streaming services, and it is hands down faster and better than even Roku Elite and Amazon Fire Cube. You won’t regret moving to the “dark side” just this once. ;)

Sorry, it would go against everything that I believe in. Just like how Batman can't kill anyone because he'll never get it back. Once the door is opened it can never be shut. The wife will want an iphone, kids ipads... etc. Fire TV works just fine for 4 of my TV's (which I don't use much) and my badass PC gaming rig does the rest on my home theater

You still use a user interface to choose what to watch? That's so 2000 n' late

Why do you want to deprive your wife and children of what THEY want, because of your bias? You can have your gaming rig, but please don’t let your wife and children suffer and go without an iPhone or Apple TV.

Hopefully you realize that this post is 100% satire!

I agree! I was all sold on Youtube TV, as it has a strong interface, great price, solid strength, but alas not on Amazon Firestick was a deal breaker for me as I already own multiple and an Apple 4K TV. So I have DirecTV Now and it is just okay in my opinion, plus they are raising the price and dropping content!

This is why I don't pizz with DirecTV anymore and probably never will, even thought they call me twice a month. I like consistency.

I've always gotten extremely lucky with them. I'm still paying about 75/mo for DTV because they always give me the discount. I was going to cut the cord, and it'd still be worth it in the long run, but I'm apparently old now because I just don't want to go through with the hassle of changing my current setup and buying Apple TV's or Roku's to stream everything. I did a lot of research on it and was going to do YouTube TV.

We used to get lucky with the discounts too. Once AT&T bought them, they seemed to dry up. Oh well...I'm happy with my streaming services, and can actually watch the local weather during thunderstorms. :)

Haha I'm glad I read that last sentence because I was just about to waste a lot of time on a lengthy write up about my "opinion" of Apple :)

I'm cable free. Using Sling Blue, Amazon Prime, Tubi and Pluto. Tubi is insane. It has old school Transformers and GI Joe. My boy totally loves GI Joe.

Wife and I been debating this for awhile now, but biggest thing she loves to record movies and shows all the time, what is all going to be required for that kind of a setup?

Its easy, with PSVue or with You Tube TV, they both have DVR. I think if I remember right with PSVue, the recording only stay on for a month. With You Tube TV, they stay for as long as you want.

I personally have liked You Tube TV better as I have used both. The interface is nicer, I like the home screen where it learns what you like and pulls up shows you watch so you don't have to go hunting through the guide for them. I also like with sporting events you can pick a team with You Tube TV and it will record all that teams games. I set it to record all Cubs games, Hawk football and basketball games. It is pretty slick.

Thanks, that makes it sound very easy, now got to find service that streams hallmark movies, her favorite "crap" to watch :)

As i said, ive been with them since Monica Lewinsky was wearing out her knees in the white house.....i dont WANT to get rid of it. I appreciate everyone going to great lengths...standing on chairs holding metal hangers in the air while their heads are wrapped in tin foil trying to make jerry-rigged alternative options work......but i just enjoy coming home and pushing a button and chilling. Sure I'm going to look for the cheapest way to enjoy the system that i like/have. For me personally i dont need golf carts, fishing gear or hunting expenses...i like hassle-free television freedom and it can come with a price. You arent taking that extra $1/day with you when you are at the pearly gates. Oh, and I don't drink beer on the daily so....you know.....there's $1-$20/day my buddies literally flush down the toilet. All im saying is for all of you turning your lives or tv watching experiences upside down for $1 or $2 a day....god bless ya.

This is the most impressive defense of directTV I’ve ever heard: Amazing passion.

The problem that dish networks will never solve in our lifetimes is the problem of thunderstorms. Missing even a minute of Iowa games due to storms is unforgivable

Tacoma? HAHAHAHAHA, is that even a real truck? Dude, I have to ACTUALLY USE my truck. I Haul, plow, get into sites, I use my truck, so a Tacoma isn't even a consideration. On top of that I put on 30-35K miles a year, so the ride has to also be silky smooth, I aint' gonna be ridding all day in some loud ass, bumpy ass truck.

Trust me, I've owned by business for 22 years now, and I go through trucks. Their is NOTHING better for what I need than the new '19 Dodge Ram. I'm not saying it is the best truck for everyone, but for me it is awesome. It is a luxury level ride, with the power and hauling capabilities that I need.

This reads like a top 40 country song by Jake Owen or Jason aldean or something. “I aint’ gonna be ridding all day in some loud ass, bumpy ass truck” those are some excellent lyrics

Ok one more question, it seems like the Apple device is best for this, but do you need one hooked up to EVER tv you have or?
