***Official Iowa-ISU Prediction Thread***

A 5-3 pillow fight. 2 missed FGs by both teams. Iowa gets a safety after the ISU punter passes out from fatigue and the snap goes out the back of the end zone.

We hurry to the line for a Qb sneak 5 times on 3rd and short, and subsequently draw 5 false starts to end drives. Ferentz then really buckles down and finds a way to lose another close one late 17-16. Maybe it will be poor clock management, maybe a costly penalty, maybe a botched onside kick, maybe a bone headed turnover, maybe a fake punt, or maybe some completely novel way to choke one away. I can't wait to see what he does this week.

A couple of stats to consider:

Not counting opening week games and bowl games, which have very long gaps before them, ISU is 1-5 under Rhoads in games played with more than 7 days to prepare.

Under Rhoads, ISU has scored 3, 7, 24, and 9 points in regulation against Iowa.

Under Rhoads, ISU's touchdown to turnover ratio in regulation in CyHawk games is 16:5. The only time they even have a 1:1 ratio was 2011, when they had three of each. In every other year under Rhoads, ISU has had at least 2 more turnovers than touchdowns against Iowa.

Iowa has scored exactly 27 points in their third game of the season each of the past 4 seasons.

Prediction:

Iowa 27, Iowa State 10

Edit: I misread the score of the '11 game vs. Pitt. Iowa has actually scored 27 in 3 of the last 4 third week games. I apologize. In light of that, I'll change my prediction to 28-10.

Iowa should be able to move the ball on the ground, but will probably stall on the ISU side of the field a few times vs. 9 in the box. Still, it's nice having a reliable kicker. Defense should hold all game minus 2 or 3 big passes.

Iowa 23
Clowntown 13

Going to a ugly game to determine the worst team in the state of Iowa this year.....

and after watching the hawks last week i going to say it will be them

ISU 34

Iowa - 28

People using our game vs Missouri State as an example for why Iowa will lose to Iowa State makes no sense. Iowa State was dominated by an FCS team opening day. That said, we haven't played well against garbage teams for a few years now and the way it typically plays out is that were up, like 10, with 7 minutes left in the third. It looks like we're somewhat cruising to a victory and then all of a sudden we do dumb things.

BUT THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN THIS WEEK!!!

Iowa 30
Iowa State 6.

We lose it late in the 4th quarter in predictable Kirk Ferentz fashion. Cyclones 24 Hawkeyes 20. I'm not going to elaborate on my statement because if you don't know what I'm talking about you obviously haven't been watching for the last four years.

I truely hope to God I'm wrong, but last weeks game really brought my confidence level down. Sorry to be a downer, it's just my honest opinion of the program in it's current state.

Iowa was supposed to roll over a bad FCS team. And they did, except for the score. Iowa gets their crap together this week and puts more points on the board.

But ISU will also get their crap together. Coach Paul Rhoads will prove he is the best big-game-coach in the state.

Iowa: 34
ISU: 37

Two teams with their crap together. It will be craptacular.

Hey You, out there beyond the wall, breaking bottles in the hall, can You help me?

I'm looking for a game like that Auburn-Mississippi State game a few years ago. 3-2. One team may add one to the win column, but in reality nobody wins.

Don't forget, the Hawks are still coached by KF, the 2nd worst game-day coach at any level of football (he used to be #1, but I think Mack Brown has recently grabbed the title).
