No Big Ten Teams Ranked

There isn't a single Big Ten team ranked in either the Harris or Coaches poll this week. Obviously Ohio State would be ranked if they were eligible, but this is still pretty disgraceful for the conference.

The prototypical, grinding Big Ten style is no longer effective in today's college football landscape. This is evidenced by Weisman's 200+ yd game against CMU which still ended in a loss. Teams must have a versatile and athletic QB, 1-2 other really solid skill positions on offense who pose big play threat, and a fast (not necessarily brutish) D.

No, even today if you get that many yards running you win. It's an indictment of the coaching.

They'll be ranked by the end of the year. Anyone really think Nebby doesn't beat La Tech? Please, get the playoff and strength of schedule here quickly. College football has had parity for about a decade now. It is tru the B1G is down, but go ahead and watch some other leagues. The difference in talent, excepting the 4-5 real teams that rotate every year, if pretty marginal.

The following SEC teams would kill everyone but O$U in BoneG.

Alabama and they would kill O$U too. I said before they would beat a Big 10 All Star team this year.
Florida
LSU
South Carolina would probably kill O$U too.
Georgia

You think Georgia would kill every team? They lost to MSU just last year.... Jesus I swear some of you guys are depressed to the point of suicidal with how bad ESPN has brainwashed you into hating the B1G. Michigan was over ranked because the had a very young D at the beginning of season but at the end of the year will be pretty good. I mean holy **** I swear some of you just look at what ESPN says and take it to heart. Actually look at the games and what the teams do on the field as far as fundamentals and talent and you wouldn't have such an anti-B1G attitude. The coaching in this league is actually very, very good but there are 6 staffs in their first or second year and 2 of the conferences name brands are under probation. Of course the season wasn't gonna start out great, but wait until the bowl games and then make some judgments.

I think the B1G is pretty even this year. Some odd losses but I don't think Florida or Georgia are that great this year. They will lose yet/some more yet. Alabama and LSU are pretty tough (surprised LSU went down). Iowa should be undefeated yet (ISU is turning out decent and had a few bad bounces against CMU) and we'd have a different story. Football is a funny game.

The true good teams this year in my book are Alabama, West Virginia, and Oregon. That's spread out pretty well.

Overall though, yes, the B1G is down.

The B1G sucks this year, there is no way to sugar coat it. The fact that tOSU is ineligible for post season makes it look even worse. I am not so Ohio would not win the B1G if they played here instead of the Mac.

Disagree on West Virginia. Smith is legit, but they play nothing resembling defense. When your QB can throw for 600 yards and 8 TDs, and you only win by 7, you aren't a true contender, IMO.

Hey so what if the BIG sucks...maybe we can sneak into the Rose Bowl....might get killed by Oregon...but I really don't care...I just want to go to Pasadena...

So the top 4 teams in the best conference in college football would likely beat the majority fr B1G teams? and the best team in a decade would beat all of them?

How is this different from any other conference, in any year ?

you and roughly 2-3 other posters on this board never have anything but negative opinion, yes, opinion.

...and before you have some snappy response....I agree the B1G is down, and Iowa has been sub-average. I also see improvement in many facets. All you see is gloom, doom, and your "reality".

Hawk-malise.

Once Michigan gets rid of Denard and OSU gets off their sanctions the B1G will be back. Lets not forget Urban was the one that started the Whole SEC craze with Florida.

Man, in a certain context, this looks like the rantings of a clown fan. ESPN brainwashed us to think the BoneG sucks? So I guess my eyes are lying to me then, because every time I watch BoneG football, it looks like the untalented players make the conference suck.

The Massey College Football Ranking Comparison of 67 computer rankings has B10 4th, much closer to 3rd than they are to 5th.

While OSU is the only one in the top 25 at 8, the conference also has teams 27, 28, 33, 37, 38, 41.

Not the greatest year for the conference, but hardly the terrible year that the nattering naboobs of negativity want you to believe.
