LOL. Yes, because a team in our position signing a 4 or 5 star recruit is just that easy. Fran should have just picked up the phone and he would have had the elite recruits falling over themselves to commit.

Fran looked at the nut case pg ISU landed and decided to not even offer.
 
This just in...anyone who thinks Hoiberg is a fantastic coach (including virtually every NBA general manager and at least one 4 star recruit every year that he's been in ames) is an "ISU troll." Everyone who thinks ISU will have a better basketball program now and for the next few years than Iowa (i.e. all AP voters) is a clown fan.

Maybe you should go home to fantasy island and celebrate with the 4 stars and make plans for the final four for the next several years. Thy might not need a coach or recruiter. The program sells itself.

Ask Bryce, I started asking this question awhile ago. WTF has Da Mayor been doing these past 2 years recruiting wise? I would say he made mistakes recruiting in the last two years. However Fred was not going to continue to roll the dice on unrated freshman. I don't know what your expectations were there but it really has never been his MO.

He was primarily responsible for recruiting mike Taylor, Garrett, brackins, and Justin Hamilton (that one along with Jeff Rutter).

He recruited some guys at Washington who will play in the league.

Yup, he also recruited some busts, some of those guys left early, but he got talent to ISU which is a big part of the battle. If I'm going to roll the dice I will roll them there.

You do realize that kid has some really big problems in HS, and that most schools stepped back from recruiting him, right?

TJ has been around on losing staffs, wayyyyy more than he has been apart of winning staffs, as McDermott and Washington were wastelands. You can try to pretend that TJ is pulling players as an assistant coach all by his self if you want, but I don't see any Washington players following him to LAmes IA.

My guess is this is gonna be a terrible hire for ISU. I say that because there is nothing to judge TJ on. Being an assistant coach and recruiting kids ISN'T the same as being the head guy. Can he even hire good assistants? Can he head a program? If he an offensive or defensive coach? Can he mingle with donors and run the club circuits? Can he handle the media? Does he know how to lead young men? Way too many questions that have no answers, because he has never been a head coach at the college level.

Hamilton didn't do **** at ISU, he would have never had a shot at making it to the NBA if he stayed there. Romar has been cranking out NBA guys way before TJ went to Washington, he did however happen to have his lowest two win totals since his first year there the two years TJ was on his staff. He was on McDermott's staff and ISU sucked, he stayed there and ISU got good when Fred came, he left and ISU had the two best years of Fred's tenure while he was gone, he went to Washington and Romar had two bad years. I'm starting to see a trend.
 
At least if they hire acne prone TJ we won't have to listen to ISU fans idiotic remarks about having the prettiest basketball coach in the state anymore.
