Nebby just fired their AD

An opinion that makes a lot of sense.

Commentary:
Why would UCF coach Scott Frost want the Nebraska coaching job?

"Nebraska is simply not the program it once was when Osborne and Osborne’s legendary predecessor — Bob Devaney — were stalking the sidelines and steamrolling the competition with their I-formation and triple-option offenses. If the Nebraska job were such a great job then why are the last three coaches hired named Bill Callahan, Bo Pelini and Mike Riley? This sounds like a pool of candidates for NC State, not Nebraska.

The problem is college football has changed and so have college football recruits. Unlike Ohio State, Nebraska isn’t in the middle of a fertile recruiting area and the Huskers no longer have the national cache to lure five-star recruits from across the country. In the minds of many top prospects, Nebraska is simply a bitterly cold place in the middle of nowhere......

Frost’s best career move would be to stay at UCF, continue to implement his explosive offense and build the program into a consistently big winner. If he does that then he could leave UCF for a much better job than Nebraska."

Mike Bianchi is, quite possibly, the worst sportswriter. Anywhere. And his homeristic bias would make Jim Zabel look like a Minnesota fan.

If Nebraska wants Frost, UCF simply can't compete.

Even Nebraska fans, as delusional as they are, realize that Frost won't come back. Apparently he's said as much and know that he can build UCF into a big winner because of the incredible amount of money being poured into the program by the University and especially boosters. He'll only jump for an elite job.

Haven't spent much time at UCFs stadium or facilities, huh? Not. Even. Close.

Nope. I'm just relaying what they said on the Fusker boards. I know nothing about UCF.

Good school, decent campus. My daughter went there. Has some great academic programs. But an up-and-comer will only stay there because 1) there is nothing better or 2) (a la George O'Leary) there's a reason for there being nothing better.

Yes, they have a fertile recruiting ground. But they are also competing directly with Florida, Florida State and Miami/FL, not to mention South Florida, the $EC and ACC schools. They win some battles, but there's a reason they are in the AAC and not a P5. They certainly have the potential to be P5-worthy, but for Fuskers fans to believe UCF is pouring the same kind of money--whether it be internal or external--as the "Big Three" is their self-fulfilling-prophetic way of easing the blow if Frost blows Nebby off. And with a good enough offer elsewhere, he absolutely SHOULD blow them off.

Riley can start planning on putting his house of the market I suspect.

Also I'm sure Scott Frost will be getting a call down the line.
Riley will never coach again after this shit show.

He's well past retirement age and he'll have a pile of cash coming his way.

It would be hilarious to see Nebraska go from their Mr. Davis glory days, to paying 3 shit coaches at once :D

(sung to the melody of American Pie)
"...and in the streets the students screamed, alumni cried and the boosters dreamed,
but not a word was spoken...'cause the Huskies left the Blackshirts broken.
... and the three men they admired the most, Osborne-Devaney and Eric Crouch - they caught the last train for the coast...
the day...Husker Football......died."

It's like a bad soap opera over there. I simply don't see Scott Frost as being Nebraska's "Harbaugh." For one it is debatable as to if he wants to come close to UNL. Two, it's way too soon in his HC career to think he'd have the first clue as to what to do if given the reins in Lincoln.

Job insecurity can be a b!tch Last eighteen years Nebraska is 128-69 and the captain is 122-70.

"Whelp, that's football!" Lol

Once the Big 12 formed, Osborne would no longer be able to field players with sub 2.50 high school GPAs and these same high achievers would also have to have completed more than 11 core high school courses.

College football teams operate within the rules of their individual conference and the NCAA. I am not faulting Osborne for accepting questionable students to his program and beating the hell out of the competition with those players. I am, however, faulting the Husker fanbase for presenting Osborne as some Mount Rushmore-esque football deity. Osborne was an incredible coach, but he was also able to take advantage of the Big 8 system.
