Name that Iowa Freshman Point Guard

Jordan doesn't specifically remind me of any of the guys listed. He is just a "different" type of player than any of those guys.

As far as career paths go, I could see him averaging a Dean Oliver type line over his career though. Average about 8-9 PPG with over 4 APG his Fr. year. Then his So-Sr year be a double digit scorer with over 4 APG each year.
Reality is you never know but I don't see anything from him or his family that would make me believe he won't get better. Between what I have seen on the court and the stats compared to the best PGs over the last 30 years, it's hard to argue that he won't be a solid PG going forward. 56 will try though

I forgot he was that inefficient as a freshman

Lots of players are crazy inefficient as Fr., that is the nature of the game. I suppose you called Devyn Marble a "bust" as well as he had a 10.6 PER his FR year. I bet you were saying Jok was a "clear miss" because as a So. he had a 12 PER. Heck even a offensively struggling Fr. like Charlie Moore isn't a miss in my book. He has 3 more years to get improve, and be better.

Moore's PER is just fine and anyone with eyes could see Marble and Jok's upside

Would you rather have Moore or Bohannon?

PER isn't that accurate as it uses a made up defensive rating in it. The offensive rating is pretty accurate tho, and Charlie is not fine offensively.

Well I think what this ENTIRE board has been trying to tell you (first about Moss) and now about Jordan, that all of us with eyes can see their upside. So I find it hard to believe that you had the ability to see upside in anyone who struggled at all as a Fr. You bailed on Moss at the first signs of him struggling, and you can't see what everyone else can see with Jordan, so I call bullshit on you thinking that 2 struggling players with ZERO other offers each was going to turn into good players. I mean you do bring up that Fran missed on his top target for Jordan, but you don't say that Fran missed on just as many before settling on Jok........

I thought the same thing. He makes absolute statements at the very beginning of their freshmen years with Moss and Bohannon, but they both look similar to how Jok and Marble looked. Marble had a good game against Michigan and played a handful of OK games, but for the most part, he struggled on a way less talented team than this one. Hell Besabe killed it as a freshmen simply because there was no one else on the team and someone had to score. Then there was Jok who played statue defense and turned it over every other time he tried to do something. How could you see potential in that but not in what Moss and Bohannon are doing?

Jok was a former top recruit. Marble was a better recruit than Bohannon and you could see his upside with his frame and athleticism. Bohannon is who he is which is an undersized SG who lacks athleticism

You could see Williams upside with his size and his athleticism.

I don't believe for a second you were high on Jok after his freshman year because he was highly recruited 4 years earlier.

"Athleticism" when people use that word I have to try and see if they are speaking in code or not. I will assume you are not. I realize an NBA comparison isn't exactly an apples to apples comparison, but think about the top 10 NBA point guards only Chris Paul is your prototypical old school point guard. The game has evolved to be about spacing, yeah, a prototypical pg would make things easier; however FM can make it work with JB. Think Jake Sullivan.;)

Defensively, he will never be a up in your grill Aaron Craft type. He simply won't. However, he is a smart kid with a wealth of knowledge to tap into. He will incrementally get better, not over night, you will see progress.

Williams was a 6'5 PG that nobody wanted in the Spring. People miss more than they hit in Spring recruiting. I still think he could turn into an OK player if he was on the wing

PG's that can create and defend are still priority at every level
