Speaking of movie material.
The story of the Replacements would make a great movie.

And that was the whole charm of the Replacements. That Hoboken Concert was the one time they managed to hit all the wrong notes in the right places and get it all on tape.
I remember seeing a Smithereen's set on TV back in '09 ish or so after not having seen them since like 1990, and I thought Pat Dinizio died and got replaced with someone else. He looked like he ate three Pat DiNizio's. Take care of yourselves, kids.
I liken these guys to Ted Nugent....produced great sounds to be sure but just never quite made it mainstream.
Too bad DiNizio porked out and died at 62.
PD died in 2017 at age 62.I remember seeing a Smithereen's set on TV back in '09 ish or so after not having seen them since like 1990, and I thought Pat Dinizio died and got replaced with someone else. He looked like he ate three Pat DiNizio's. Take care of yourselves, kids.
What always baffled me was that for about a decade when he was at his most obese, he always wore cycling caps from Mavic or Campagnolo. That would be like Usain Bolt wearing a Marlboro hat.
Or Madonna wearing a Habit. Oh wait, she tried that schtick once.I remember seeing a Smithereen's set on TV back in '09 ish or so after not having seen them since like 1990, and I thought Pat Dinizio died and got replaced with someone else. Pretty sad stuff to watch the guy playing on Arsenio Hall and The Late Show and then see what he did to himself in the span of 20 years. I know food's just as strong of an addiction as anything else for a lot of people.PD died in 2017 at age 62.
I wonder if Pat was diabetic. Sixties pop star Tommy James, who had his songs covered by half the pop bands in the eighties (Mony Mony being the most famous and notorious) battled his weight early in his career. He either wasn't taking medication, or was prescribed the wrong medication, for his diabetes.I remember seeing a Smithereen's set on TV back in '09 ish or so after not having seen them since like 1990, and I thought Pat Dinizio died and got replaced with someone else. looks like the phlebotomist at BioLife who is always screwing up plasma donations.I’m actually a lot more along these lines...

Mike Reno of Loverboy was another who lost the battle of the bulge in middle age. And back in the preening image conscious hair metal days, record companies were always on the musicians to watch their weight, especially on tour or video shoots. Look at Ann Wilson of Heart. She looks like she could keel over any second.
Yikes! That dude's gotta be pushing five spins.
