More suspensions on the way

Ok good point on the ansisters comment. I was thinking specifically about people who bring up slavery like we still need to make up for it. But there is no way for you to know I was being specific about one thing so it came off like I was saying that was the only thing. My bad.

When I was at college, I came from small town no minority Iowa. The guys next door were black and though friendly they kept to themselves. They guys were from a major inner city. They were pledging in an all black fraternity and would walk around chained together. They would host pot smoking for their frat right next door. They had these canes to symbolize beatings. They would drop the canes while still in their hands and they would bang numerous times. It was finals weak and I was really tired due to this. They also had a speaker on the wall. I went over and knocked asking if they could be more quiet at 4:30 AM. One of the guys took offense (not from the room) and backed me against the wall and asked if I was prejudiced. I said no. About that time my roomie came out (was also from the same city with a club. The roomie was mouthie spouted out, "don't you have any common sense?" Then they all got mad. Pretty soon all the hallway (mostly white) spilled out and there was pushing and shoving. The housing director showed up and soon the campus police. I about started a race riot. It was an SEC state school.

During that year I was watching a movie and said joking out loud the N word at a character in a movie in the lounge. I meant nothing by it but it came out. I turned around and there was a black kid I really liked. The hurt in his eyes was unmistakable. I could never take it back. He would never talk to me after that. He'd just look away.

Did your n word end in an A or an R? I've thrown out the one that ends in an A twice in my life in front of a black guy. I'm as white as they get so for some reason I think it's funny to talk gangsta from time to time. It got me twice. Once it was a friend and once it was a random dude. Both understood intent and didn't give a rip. I still felt like an idiot tho.

The main point of that story is there are uptight black guys that take offense to anything and there are cool black guys who don't. Same with white people. Same with any other race. I'm a big believer that words don't hurt. It's the intent of words that hurt. I wish everyone was level headed enough to comprehend the difference.

Thats where you error.

Sorry if I've said this on here before but the world is less racist than it was 100 years ago and it's way less racist than it was 300 years ago. We are clearly moving in the right direction. The way it's going tho is we are on the path of a huge overcorrection. If it keeps up like this, in 100 years white people will be oppressed and in 300 years white people will be slaves. People just need to use common sense and treat others like they want to be treated (that goes for all races) and quite trying so hard to overcorrect to make up for our ansisters mistakes.

Please show me any evidence that opportunity today for whites is any less than it has been in 200 years. And don't tell me about manufacturing...we all have to adapt. Making a statement that white people will be oppressed in 100 years and in 300 years they will be enslaved is beyond reprehensible. You assume minorities have that in mind and there is some inevitability? It's also a freaking insult to African Americans.

Listen, we disenfranchised an entire race of people in this country for over 100 years, and it's only started evolving to a more level playing field in the last 50 years...but it's not there yet. Think about that for a moment...there is a reason for poverty and problems in our inner cities...there aren't generations of success in those families like white families. This generation of African Americans still face discrimination, but hopefully that becomes less of an obstacle to progress. We should be spending more in our inner cities for education, not less. The only way to create success in families is through education and creating legitimate trade skills.

There is a greater likelihood that outer space aliens are probing you anally in 300 years than you, as a white man, being enslaved by minorities.

Excellent post.......That being said, I think Fry was just trying to be clever and funny. If you ever listen to Deace/Jon's podcasts.....Deace is basically doing the same thing. Those 50 years that you just described, African-Americans biggest influence has been in pop culture. Imo, I think Fry was going more the pop culture route than the race route.

Nope in 300 year's the Caucasian race will be mostly gone. As it is forecasted that most of the Caucasoid, Negroid, and Mongoloid races will be almost completely cross bred. Only isolated pockets of mankind are expected to stay racially pure.

Well Hawkgold just posted something about not being able to get a job because they weren't hiring white people at the time. Adam says white people won't even be around at that time. Times change man.

But wait...I thought it was all about diversity? What you are describing is the destruction of diversity, along with the extinction of certain genetic traits which took tens of thousands of years to develop and spread. Or, many would say that God created those rare traits and differences. So that would be the destruction of God's creation.

Who's "we"? I didn't disenfranchise anybody. All I've done is help African-Americans my whole adult life pretty much. Leave me out of your white liberal guilt please.

Corrected: "Listen, we, minus Steve Garvey1, disenfranchised an entire race of people in this country for over 100 years, and it's only started evolving to a more level playing field in the last 50 years...but it's not there yet."

The "we" was in reference to the "United States". I think most people would surmise that the post wasn't referring to anyone alive today implementing the policies dating back 150 years, but I'm happy to clarify it for you Steve. Facts are facts and unfortunately it sometimes takes generations to overcome this type oppression...so yes Steve, whether you like it or not, you are a part of the aftermath of this issue. I'm glad you are doing your part by helping people.

As far as "my liberal guilt" being imposed upon you...that's a bit of a leap Steve. It's possible to understand the economics of something without being a far left liberal, despite what Fox News will tell you. I'm not pushing reparations or anything...what I'm saying is that earmarking first class education funds to inner cities and poor areas is the answer...and making the financial commitment as a nation to do it is necessary.

Heres hoping the aliens capture you first.

When we don't act when we see it, when we dismiss issues, when we dismiss concerns brought about by minorities, WE becomes obvious.

Even the attitude that you have by your statement makes it obvious. It isn't a liberal position, it's a human kindness and dignity position. Guarantee you have benefits today from "we" from the past. That doesn't mean everything is reset like in S Africa. It does involves not having an entitled attitude. Your whole adult life... I doubt it. Done some things? Highly likely.

Some of the stupid statements here are just that. You'd think that big fans of a university sports team might have some smarts to go along with it.

Maybe this will help. I don't know if Steve is one of the bitchers about the blue bloods or the SEC.

Many Iowa fans say Iowa can't win the NC or consistently win because the rules are different for blue bloods and the SEC. This is because they have certain privileges of location, reputation or rule bending. Iowa could compete as there are rules and general acceptance that they can, but they just don't get the 5 stars and as many 4 stars. Try as we won't it just isn't a level playing field. If you are an SEC or blue blood fan, you might say, you can compete. See you are better off than you used to be.... Stop your whining and complaining non SEC or blue bloods. Go out and try and recruit. You'll be OK.

I hope you send letters to each country in the rest of the world and chastise them for their disenfranchising people of all races, creeds and colors for hundreds of years before America even existed. In fact, the type of disenfranchisement you are speaking of stopped because Americans came to the full realization it was morally wrong. My ancestors on both sides were "disenfranchised" also.

If you want to know the truth about why inner cities exist, go read and listen to Thomas Sowell. He will turn the light on for you. You can't "manufacture" a successful society. You cannot apportion success TO a given set of people. People must earn their success and by suppressing the opportunity for some at the benefit of others, regardless or irrespective of personal merit, is simply the a watered down reverse of the disenfranchisement you speak of.

Every citizen of America has the same rights and they must be protected and fought for and preserved for all. And all means all. Success is based on each individuals ability and willingness to sacrifice and persevere and to reach for more through individual effort. Removing obstacles that choke the quantity of opportunities is what allows ALL to have the same chance. Government is not the almighty who "gives" opportunity.

The greatest chance of ALL PEOPLE being enslaved, for those who live in a socialist society. Go look it up. The facts are out there.

Here’s some food for thought on the other side of the token. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone above but just something to think about and this was mentioned earlier in the thread.

The NY Times just hired someone to their staff (I don’t even know her ethnicity), who has posted several racist comments on her twitter page against white people including one that flat out said “#cancelwhitepeople”

On the flip side if a Caucasian were to tweet that about another race do you really think he or she would be hired for a new media job? My guess is there would be an extreme outcry and call to fire that person, along with likely harassment of that person.

That seems like a double standard to me....

Um, whites are the global minority by a wide margin. There are more Chinese and Indians alone than there are white Europeans, Americans and Canadians. The Chinese are ardent nationalists and have many derogatory terms for whites, Japanese and Koreans. And they aren't subject to constant guilt propaganda.
This generation of African Americans still face discrimination, but hopefully that becomes less of an obstacle to progress.
Have you ever recruited for an employee? It's amazing, I hear about how "XYZ" group is discriminated against but then without fail everyone in that group goes to great lengths to signal on their resume that they belong to "XYZ Student Association" or "XYZ Journal." Why the hell would people do that? Oh, because there is substantial "positive discrimination" or "affirmative action" in the workforce. Hell, it's to the point where people who are 1/8th or less black have to constantly remind everyone they are black. Like that Megan Merkle lady or Talcum X or the rapper Logic. If those people didn't constantly say they were "black," 99.9% of people would have no idea. Seems like if I were being discriminated against I would try to associate with the "in group." And despite how evil and racist these majority white countries are, they are the ones being lambasted by global capital and media companies to accept millions of migrants. I'd like to watch someone try to guilt Shinzo Abe into taking in 5 million South American and North African immigrants.

She's Korean, bruh. White Americans did horrible things to Koreans, like colonize their country for decades before WWII and force their women into sex slavery and then start a war to try to institute a command economy on the entire peninsula.

Racism is not limited to white people, nor is it original to America. It's been going on for all of human history in one form or another. The reality is, you'd be hard pressed to find a country or society in history who has assimilated so many different races of people into one culture and successfully moved away from a legacy period of slavery better than ours. (and of course there's still prejudice out there...I don't think it's ever possible to eliminate it 100%.)

But you'd never know that by watching much of the mass media. Unity doesn't sell papers, get clicks or increase viewership (or provide a political platform). So, the bad stories are disproportionately covered, magnified and even distorted. What I see in most of the media bears no resemblance to the interactions and relationships I have with non-white people, or to those of people in my circle of friends and family.
