More suspensions on the way

Here’s some food for thought on the other side of the token. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone above but just something to think about and this was mentioned earlier in the thread.

The NY Times just hired someone to their staff (I don’t even know her ethnicity), who has posted several racist comments on her twitter page against white people including one that flat out said “#cancelwhitepeople”

On the flip side if a Caucasian were to tweet that about another race do you really think he or she would be hired for a new media job? My guess is there would be an extreme outcry and call to fire that person, along with likely harassment of that person.

That seems like a double standard to me....

<<That seems like a double standard to me....>>

Because it IS a double standard. Building on what ArvadaHawk said so eloquently above, Dr. Sowell continually points out that "pre-fixed" rights for ANY group means that the rights of (an)other group(s) MUST be compromised. "Preferential" rights, "payback", "nullification", etc., doesn't mean "progress".

The bravest man I have ever met isn't some Green Beret/Navy Seal/Ranger/Delta Force type. He is a black pastor in Zimbabwe. He pastors a congregation of blacks, whites and others. Some of the white farmers have been there for generations. As the pastor points out, "These farmers fed us when governments and others would not. They prospered this country for generations." He points out that, more importantly, they brought him Jesus.

Then Robert Mugabe, beginning in 1980, started taking land, farms, businesses, etc., from whites and gifting it to his cronies. or so they thought. In reality, he was feeding his own kitty AND paying off military and police that can keep him in power. So when, in the late-1990s, Mugabe and his thugs started jailing white farmers, this pastor went to the jails and said, "Jail me with my brothers!" He insisted on being in jail with them. He refused to stand by and accept it, and finally left when the white farmers and business owners were released.

He has military and police people "sitting in" for all his sermons. He is routinely followed to and from the church, and pretty much everywhere else he goes. But he refuses to allow Mugabe to be a thug without standing up. It will probably get him killed, but he will not back down. For now, enough US church/parachurch people are making it known that they KNOW what Paul is doing and that they will support him. But thugs don't care after a while. They kill and destroy "just because" (look at what the Taliban did in Afghanistan with all the Buddhist monuments and temples). The other option is to hope Mugabe runs out of bribe money, OR the military finally turns on him (it's come close to happening before).

This type of thing isn't talked about in certain circles. It isn't part of the narrative the people in said circles want to try and fit into their fantasy world. But like it or not, racism isn't one-way, isn't unique to the U.S., and certainly won't be solved by 535 self-serving, self-centered people whose greatest accomplishments include conning more campaign money and votes than the equally self-serving, self-centered opponents they beat at the polls.

China is Communism.

Denmark/Finland/Netherlands/Sweden/Norway are not socialist countries. They are countries with big government, but are very business friendly. These countries have not overtaken the means of production, distribution and exchange of goods/services. Taxing the hell out of your citizens isn't socialism. True Socialism is the government owns business and and rules all parts of a society. They allow or disallow what the government deems needed/necessary to further the "state." Venezuela IS a Socialist country. How are they doing these days? Reportedly, it costs a months wages for a single chicken in Venezuela.

so·cial·ism
[ˈsōSHəˌlizəm]
NOUN
  1. a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

I don't know about Ireland. I know that they are a low corporate tax country and woo foreign corporations. That doesn't sound like Socialism to me.

Same with Canada. I know that the people in Canada who can afford to come to America for their healthcare because their single payer healthcare determines what kind of care you can get.

HG, you went through a lot for a straw man argument. I'll give you credit for that. Your reply to my post had almost zero to do with what my post stated. My post was pointing out that various forms of "disenfranchisement" is not limited to America but, in fact, preceded the existence of America. The tone of the post I was responding to was that of slavery, to which, I pointed out that the best way to get to that point is with Socialism.

Connection between economic performance and welfare expenditure is vague. Welfare expenditure certainly can stifle economic growth if welfare spending grows to large. By and large, American citizens are okay with supporting welfare that helps those who need it; those who cannot support themselves, those who need daily assistance. But taxing for welfare for those who are able bodied but are willing to accept the welfare, that is big government. Is this what you believe?

You seem to know what everyone else thinks or believes, or should, and you become belittling and resort to name calling and are argumentative to prove a point. When two people are discussing a topic from opposite ends of the point, the person who resorts to name calling and belittling their opposing debater, is the person who has lost the argument. When you can't win on facts you start the name calling.

The last part is one of thre few times Ive done it in response to you. Nice try.

The Chinese Govt only owns 3 percent of the businesses which accounts for about 25 percent of the economy. Itonically the US Govt is about the same percent as China.

China is not really communism. Its Oligarchy. There are lots of definitions. West Europe heavily controls the economy through taxation and heavy socislist programs.

There are very few real communist nations.

You sir...are a true gentlemen. It's not dead...we just need parents to teach their children well.

Precisely.....

Exact and to the point

It begins at birth and is naturally ingrained, one way or the other.....

Understanding and tolerance must be taught at the very beginning of life. The correct teachings and instructions are another matter.....

I always thought it was here here?

I was always told it was a shortened version of Hear ye Hear ye used in the House of Lords. As it was explained to me the saying become popular in the house of commons as an expression of agreement without needing to actually speak on the matter.

I obviously don't really know though.

he really is. he is perhaps the greatest social thinker this country has. and you know what, he's just filled with common sense.

What you are trying to imply by previous posts is that uneven playing fields don't exist. Disenfranchisement can be defined in part by unequal playing fields. Go look at the NCAA for such.

The discussion was basically about what was said and how it could be perceived as racist. Black/white playing fields are not equal. Some football/basketball teams get certain advantages. It's there. Insinuations about black athletes will get called out.

On a different buy similar front, I wonder what Chris Collins did to piss someone off. What he did was illegal and unethical, but it happens often. His victims are anyone buying that stock and not having insider information,

Kind of like the NCAA looking the other way or letting some things go like NC basketball. He obviously had someone who had something against him or linked to party politics. Who knows.

They did pay off debt in a sense by monetizing it which they did. Also they have caused damage by artificially keeping I rates low which is for the benefit of those with much money.
It benefits debtors, not necessarily those with "much money". They stole from savers to benefit debtors. Some of those savers don't have much money, and now they make even less on what they do have.

Football can't come soon enough.

I’m hoping most Iowa games are on something other than BTN. Or someone can PM me with the link to a good pirate site. Effing greedy bastards Comcrap dropped BTN from their channel lineup outside of the BIG footprint. I no longer receive.

I believe that BTN live stream is available via a Hulu membership.

I would agree. And, in addition, the US is quickly becoming an Oligarchy, as well.
