Miller in full apologist mode on Twitter right now

It is amazing to me the whining on this board. To defeat #2 Michigan and annihilate hated Nebraska in the same season is a special accomplishment. This team could do very well in the bowl game and capture a bowl championship, which is something last year's team did not do.

I don't see the whining you see!? I see a nice discussion taken place.

How many outright titles does he have again? That's what I thought. You're the type of person that would have bragged about winning the West again this year even though we got beat down by Wisky.

Actually, I don't believe winning the West is winning anything. I would never brag about that. Being 8-0 in the conference in 2002 and denigrating it because it wasn't an outright title seems silly to me. You sound like the type that would complain that, before last year we didn't go to the Rose Bowl, even though the rules of who goes where have been changed so we could win the conference and still potentially not go to that game.

I am not saying there are not issues with the program or coach. A lack of WR talent right now is one of them. But, remind me again what programs have been most successful in this conference after OSU and Michigan since 1999?

Is it all bad? You tell me.

Chosen, it's the same 5-6 posters, it shouldn't amaze ya.

Vegas had the O/U for regular wins for Iowa at 8.5.
We finished at 8.

Probably should've finished 10-2 (switch NW and NDSU), and even with 2 conference losses, Wisconsin would've still won the West.

With next's year schedule (Crossovers with Penn State, Michigan State and Ohio State) PLUS road games
at Wisconsin, Nebraska and Iowa State, next years feels like 7-5.
Vegas O/U will probably be 6.5.
People aren't going to be disappointed with 8-4 next season, unless teams on our schedule flame out.

This says it all. The fanbase gets a boner at 8 wins cuz they always have an excuse to fail. Ya get what you expect out of life. And our fans expect 8 wins. Is it any wonder people are happy with this season.

Thanx Kirk.

In 2015, Iowa had good/great interior speed and speed on the corners. a gutsy QB.
In 2016, a repeat would have been hard. Still, there was a fat cat feeling to several of those losses.
Why a coach in near year sometimes has no running game or a passing game at all behooves me if more than once in a great while.

The strong finish does show an element of not being prepared...fat cat like.

NDSU's do happen. None of the losses were bad losses, except for that one. It was the manner by which they lost. They seemed totally unprepared for NW and PSU. One or 2 in a season...OK I guess, it happens. 4 games? No.

Thx KF for a strong finish. 2016 final Hawks may be better than 2015. You shoulda done better in being prepared.

Could a been OK with 9-3 or even 8-4 if you'd gone down swinging.
BTW are you aware he receives a $500k bonus for an 8 win non-ranked team? Yeah that's right

I thought 10-2 or 11-1 was where this team should have been before the season started. And I still think that's where they should be. That's essentially wins over NDST and NW
More Gair , more Faith, more Wadley, more A. Nelson should have happened much earlier in the season and we might have a couple more wins.

This.

The floor with 7 gimmes to start the year should've been 10 wins, and I'm including the Bowl game in that number.

Michigan state and Wisconsin have been just as good and some would argue better. If you had to rank the three programs in terms of performance the past decade, Iowa is a solid third. Shouldn't be that way.

----------The old Jon flew off the handle and chased squirrels a lot, and was pretty immature.

In all seriousness Jon, you seem to for whatever reason be hell bent on cleansing your soul around here....you have absolutely no reason to do that....you are a decent guy, and playing The End prior to a podcast is really VERY tame. You have on occasion mentioned a demon in your past which you have dealt with...please don't try and conjoin the two (2) situations. One is life, the other is football. Peace brother!

BTW, I too would really like to hear you speak more about "The Extension Part II"....otherwise known as the "Death Nail".....it's too convenient and annoying to simply use the "Its done, and we can't do anything about it, so why waste our breath talking about it" excuse.....if we were a real program instead of a little dog who knows his place in the pack as one who can never go up on the porch and eat steak, we WOULD be talking about the extension and forcing our AD to do it more often as well. And don't get me started on how you let Ferments slide on his outdated and LAZY recruiting practices

Saying Iowa shouldn't be behind Wisconsin or MSU is as dumb as Wisconsin or MSU fans saying they shouldn't be behind Iowa. Why "shouldn't" any of the programs be behind the others? Why "should" Iowa be ahead of them? It sure would be cool if we were, and at some times in history we are, but we shouldn't just be for sure ahead of them.

It's especially dumb when both programs have been doing so good as of late. They are at least top 15 programs right now. So we should just be better than them no matter how good they get? If they both improve to top 5 programs, should we still be better than them? Now when the day comes where they tank, then I will say Iowa "should be" better than them. Until then, where they are as a program has a lot to do with whether or not we "should be" better than them.
