Manny Rugamba Tweeted

To summarize. He tweeted. It may have been intentional, in which case, he's at best in trouble with Ferentz, unless of course, Ferentz has softened his stance on some tweeting then everything is fine, or at worst, he's out the door, in which case we shouldn't mind because he was being passed by other players, to wit, Hankins and Creamer, or we should mind because he's a veteran player who has shown he can make plays or at the least provides a qualified backup; or it may have been unintentional, in which case, it's a nothing to see here event, but if it was unintentional then why is it still there, in which case it must have been intentional, in which case, he's at best in trouble with Ferentz . . . .

EXACTLY. You got it. Lol
This time of year maybe a little boring for football fans, but it does not have a lack of humor in it, that's for sure.

You can never have enough veteran talent on a team. Especially with the new LB's with no experience, the veteran DB's need to cover for them, no pun intended.

Every time Iowa runs a nickel or dime package, they are going glad Rugamba stuck around (or sorry he left)

When you think about it your statement above contradicts itself. Yes, too many veterans on a team can be bad when all are in the same cycle as with what has been happening with Iowa's linebackers a couple times the past 10 years.

Lol. Just found it funny.

I can't recall a single player that started tweeting out of the blue that wasn't shortly thereafter confirmed to be off the team.....

I almost wonder if Kirk has said they can use Twitter in a number of very limited cases, but to not tweet anything stupid so as to not ruin it for everyone else. Maybe Manny's tweet was just signifying his anxiousness for the season to start? I don't know.

I kind of wonder if any players are future lawyers. Public university, 1st Amendment, Freedom of Speech, Social Media.

My understanding is it was only Twitter, not Facebook or even Instagram. I don't know how all those things work, but I think Twitter is where everyone can follow you.

That sort of thing can get flipped around though. You have the right to tweet and not go to jail sure. Can't go screaming 'fire' in a theater though. But coach doesn't have to play you. Or keep you on the team. Coaches kick players off for all sorts of reasons that aren't breaking any constitutional rights or laws. Some coaches/teams have rules about twitter/social media others don't.

The thing that gets me is if your a player at Iowa now you know/knew the rule prior to signing. How can one bitch about something your agreeing to? To me it's like saying yeah I'll be a Hawk but I don't want to wear those colors I want to wear red instead... Dude it don't work that way. Now if coach is changing rules then that's cool they have the right to do just that too. With 2 players now tweeting I guess we'll just have to see what the deal is..

Logically, a public university wouldn't be legally allowed to restrict freedom of speech on social media barring something illegal (threatening someone, etc.). That being said, I bet there has been court ruling stating otherwise. The system is logically inconsistent.

I could go along with that if it was a private university, but it's a public university.
Can't wear certain stuff in HS. Can't run around work saying what's up bi***** and fu*****.
You can, but that doesn't mean you are going to be there long.

Well, schools are like prisons.

The thing about universities though is that regardless of if they are public or private you aren't forced to attend. One chooses to enroll and thus then are agreeing to their rules in doing so. Some teachers will let you chew gum in class or eat food. Others don't on the same campus. I can't say there's anything inherently wrong about that. But is it a right to be able to eat? Sure but not necessarily between 2-3 every Tues and Thur during your science class...

All the data supports that if you don't complete the one on the left, your chances of ending up in the one on the right dramatically increases. So, good thing they're so close to being the same, it reduces the trauma of a new environment.

Knowing Shaun Beyer, I'd be surprised if he was transferring.

Somebody hacked Spencer Petras this summer as well.

Twitter is the only social media that's banned. Players use FB, Instagram and Snap Chat.

What are your thoughts on Rugamba? You don’t normally see hackers post a single emoji.

He’s already been in the dog house with Ferentz before and he’s getting passed by other guys on the depth chart. My money says gone.
