Lipstick on a pig

I saw lip "stick on a pig" and I thought we were going to talk about the clown flag girls or something

Yep. The mark of very good, even great, Iowa teams is significant incremental improvement week over week. The leap the offense made from week 1 to week 2 is making me giddy, but the pass rush and secondary has me thinking we may have a rather pedestrian team. I also watched the other teams from the West yesterday and Minnesota and Nebraska both look like they will give Iowa fits. Not sure what to make of Wisconsin, but I assume they will be tough, too.

What have you seen from Nebraska that Makes you think they will give anyone fits? They are truly one of the worst defensive football teams in the country. Oregon "deflated" with the big half time lead. had they played with the same fervor as they did in the first half, they would have put 70 on the board. They basically ran clock in the second half.

Every team on Iowa's schedule may give them fits. How is that different than EVERY other year. Every game on our schedule is winnable. (since OSU and Penn State are at Kinnick) Any of the games left on the schedule are loseable also. Iowa football under Kirk Ferentz.

We need to play a tougher non-con and stop getting blown out in bowl games.
Hayden saw a Cyclone victory as a birthright, Kirk needs to as well. In fact Iowa needs to have that attitude against every inferior opponent. I don't ever wanna hear, "Well they're a really good FCS team" again!!!

Hayden beat the crappy teams like a drum. Not so well against the big boys. The highs have been higher and the lows have been lower under Ferentz.

I don't feel negative after that win at all. Those are the games that ISU has won against Ferentz historically. I really liked seeing our resolve to come back in the 4th down double digits, and then actually pull out the win in overtime. Not to mention it was on the road in a very hostile environment. It wasn't like we were at Illinois or Indiana where 2/3 of the stadium is empty. Sure giving up that many points isn't ideal, but ISU is built for the Big 12 where you have to score a lot of points. Rugamba was making his first start of the season and was clearly rusty. Did Jackson get hurt? I don't recall hearing his name at all, unlike against Wyoming where it seemed like he was everywhere.

It doesn't matter if the Hawks beat someone 99 to nothing somebody's always going to complain about something and think they could do a better job coaching the team. That's why they're not coaching.
Or perhaps we're not coaching because daddy isn't the head coach. Just sayin

Minnesota beat up on the Rutgers of the PAC12 in Oregon St. Gophers came close to losing in week 1 to Buffalo. Not worried about Minnesota at all. I am wondering how anyone can compare the Iowa & Minnesota games this past week and have any worries. BIG West is wide open for Iowa this year.
Go Hawks!
