While Horner went to Iowa, I dont think he would be putting pressure on a player to go to Iowa. I think he wants to be objective and let players choose on their own.
Rumor is Roy Marble's younger son is also transferring to Valley. What a line-up next year - hope Jeff can keep everybody happy.
Whoa, slow down, killer. I have ZERO affiliation with either Dowling or Valley. Facts are facts though, dude. The jersey thing DID happen. And yeah, I know that Valley does not put names on their game jerseys, no high school in Iowa does. But that does not mean you can't have one made for them.
I have been on the inside of this story the entire time, going way back to last fall. Get over yourself.
really???? a ******* contest over THIS? Wow!
This has been in the works for awhile. Glad it is finally public knowledge so I can talk about it. Valley made a better recruiting pitch last week than Dowling did. He visited both for a day, but Horner had jerseys with Jok and Nixon's names on the back for them as "gifts."
Valley will be the best team in the CIML, and one of the best in the state for the next two years, and from the sounds of it, the recruiting pipeline is warming up, and Horner will be bringing more guys to Valley from the metro area over the next few years.
Well, until he gets a college offer, then he's gone and the kids will be left to play for whoever walks into the job.
How do you know the jersey thing happened? What makes you on the inside of this story? Maybe you should get over yourself? Quit making stuff up.
Good to see Valley has started trying to "buy" recruits by giving them gifts. Didn't realize IAHSAA rules allowed for this.
Really, the recruiting pipeline opening up, again the last thing Horner needs to be doing is "recruiting" players.
From what people have said about Jok's guardian, sounds like he has been shopping Jok and his own kid around to get the best deal for his kid, not Jok. Sounds like Horner is going to play ball with the boosters at Valley, that will be interesting.

I don't owe you anything. And I have never made anything up and posted it on a message board. Bottom line is everyone recruits. Some just make it less obvious than others.
I never posted anything during the recruiting process itself because I wanted to wait until the decision was made on Dowling of Valley. It is now, so as I said before, I can now post on the topic.
You're a joke, man.
Jeff was interested in the position that was filled by Ryan Bowen. When he didn't get it, I called him up and told him I felt the opportunity that presented itself at Valley, with their size and resources, would wind up being better for him in the long run if he wanted to position himself to get into coaching at the college level one day.
Something like this could really accelerate that. Put up two really good years at Valley, and he should easily be able to land a front line assistant position in a Mid Major conference.
I don't like it and I don't even have a kid on the team. This could backfire on him big time.
Does Devyn's brother live in Des Moines? What is the deal with him? What class? Where did he play last year?
I'm sorry Jon, I just couldn't let this one slide.....
If Matt Bowen, former safety for the Hawkeyes, is now an assistant coach on the Iowa men's basketball team, we are in big trouble!!

No, he did not. This is untrue, and I have talked with parties directly involved that have said its untrue.
I also don't believe that Jeff Horner pursued these players. They had an interest in leaving where they were, and they visited Valley. Horner met with them then.
The players in question didn't decide to leave their school until about a month ago.
Unless I am being lied to, and this person has never lied to me before and they are in a position to know.
Interesting. State is usually spot on with his Des Moines area high school sports information and Jon is right most of the time also when dealing with stuff like this. Somebody is obviously wrong here.
