Jok to Valley

A) Jury's out, not holding my breath because
B) Yes, he will be a difference maker at the next level. The bluebloods will be hard after this kid. I've read a few different times over the past year or so that Jok is further along in his development at this stage than Barnes was, and has a similar amount of talent.

I saw Barnes early in his junior year and Jok late in his sophomore year. I realize that's an entire summer of AAU, etc. Barnes was way ahead of Jok in 2 areas...basketball IQ and defense IMO. Guys don't usually polish their defensive skills playing AAU ball so...

anyone saying Jok is ahead of Barnes, etc is saying a mouthful. Would love to see it - two iowa guys playing at that high of a level, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Never saw either of them play in high school, so i can't comment but it would be hard to believe.

I don't really care either. If anything, I enjoy and encourage it. It adds a nice little spice. I don't begrudge these kids for transferring for sports. For me, sports was way more important than academics in high school. Every kid that can get a D in algebra and read at a 5th grade level can graduate high school. Only the select few can excel at sports at the big schools.

Sad......

That wasn't my own opinion (I've never seen him play), but I have read it a few times. I thought it was maybe an AAU coach or private trainer/coach that they shared. But maybe I'm remembering wrong. Just passing it along.

The only things I really care about here are...
A) Will this kid end up at Iowa?
B) Is he a difference maker at the B1G level?

Yes he is going to Iowa and he is going to be the next Michael Jordan. They will win a Big 10 title and quite possibly the national title.

Thats what Jake said when he was still coaching Jok. Just remember Jake coached both of these kids at one time, but both dumped him. I wish Jok all the best. However Barnes has been off the charts at all levels. Jok has a long way to go to get to that level.

No. Where did you hear this? I remember going to the Rivals site 4 years ago when Harrison was a sophmore and saw that a top 5 guy in that class(Barnes) was playing right in Ames, Iowa and was the son of a former ISU player. Barnes was on the radar well before he was a senior, as a senior he moved to the top of the list. Jok, if anything, has taken a step back in the eyes of many recruiting publications this year.

Read the post previous to yours. That's who I remembered saying that about Jok.

Nixon will not start at Valley and might not get any PT. Marble will definitely not start for Valley. Marble is not anymore than an average hs bball player. I miss spoke in my post earlier (Marble will not be on Sophomore team), but it will be hard for him to get PT at Valley. People have just looked at his name and ASSUME he is good. He is like the worst player on his Kingdom Hoops team (yes he plays for kingdom hoops).

I would also be surprised if Nixon starts

Well you have to take Jeff at his word until proven otherwise. Also, he reads message boards? Not that its illegal but I can imagine how furious I would be to read all the allegations on here if they were in fact false.

Horner on the record here that the jersey rumor never happened

I'm certainly not saying that he's lying, but the fact that he says on the record that it didn't happen doesn't automatically mean it didn't. What would you expect him to say? If he DID do it, he's not going to admit it on the record.

Again, I don't think that the jersey thing happened, and I'll trust Horner. But him saying it didn't is not anywhere near proof of that.

What do I expect him to say? The same thing I expect anyone to say; the truth.

No one lives a perfect life, but telling a lie in this instance would be playing with fire when at present there really isn't any.

I think a friend of his tipped him off to the discussions. As it relates to being furious with what people say or write about you, this isn't his first rodeo. People in the spotlight get lied about all the time.

The jersey thing is just ridiculous. Like I said before, what kid would care about that? No one. The Nixon's kid playing time thing, not so ridiculous. But, I personally don't think Jeff would do that either. Like I said, we'll see. At the very least it LOOKS bad with what supposedly happened at Dowling. But who cares it is just high school basketball as some have stated. I don't even know what that means. Please, no one say that again. It's beyond stupid.

Didn't you hear that the most of the starters on the football team came up positive on drug testing and had to miss the bowl game.....ROFLMAO.

Don't people ever learn?

This. Lying about this would be beyond stupid. I believe him.
