JBo is thinking about coming back next year

Poor defender. Poor ability to drive and finish. Poor 3 point shooter (this season). Loud mouth that couldn't back up his big mouth. Big assist guy that lived off Luka. Luka's gone. Hope he is too. Time to move on.
Most definitely all the above. You have had your time as a role player at best move on and good luck in your life there are kids waiting to get their chance on the floor you had your chance.

every athlete goes through this thinking. Not unlike retirement from a normal 9-5 job. The end draws near, don't know what to do, so they hang on. Mr. B if you want save your legacy get out now while your coming off a great season. Next year is a transition year, losing all the size (Garza, Nunge) Most of the guards have little experience. It's time to let the program move forward.

Agree on the thinking about the athlete thinking. Different sport in college I played same U however back then they gave us four years (five if you meet the game participation limit for injuries etc.) if you are really good you may leave early to gain monetary greatness. If you are not that caliber lets get a job and in my case play on the corporate fast pitch team and make some brownie points with your boss (real world) Bottom line Bohannon time for you to move on might even be a gig in Europe playing hoops.

I’m not saying that we should get rid of Fran but if you want to have a better year than the one that we just finished I think you have to get a better coach. JBO isn’t going to change that one way or the other. Problem is while searching for a better coach chances are you find the opposite. Fran got us as far as he’s going to get us. Hope I am wrong.

If he comes back, if JW stays, and we add a player or two from the transfer portal.....Iowa will be right there again among Top 5 in conference and anywhere probably from a 7 to 3 seed would be my guess.

Well put him at shooting guard which has always been his natural spot. Time to go to different point guards and try to get penetration and breaking down of the defense/

Well you might get your wish if he sticks to what he said the other day. Sounds like that bill is dead. He's been a fun player to watch and root for. If you say you weren't cheering like crazy when he hit some of big shots he's hit then I'd say you're just not an Iowa fan. Nobody would say he's perfect. But he's had a hell of a career. If he wants to keep playing who are we to push him away?

Yeah I thought we'd see more of JT and JBo playing together this yr then we did. I think JTs up and down play attributed some to that. I woulda liked to see that too.

Interesting post here. First point I will make 5 years and then maybe 6 we call that a lifer at U of Iowa Christ move on Iowa City gets boring after awhile. Now to sports yes we all went crazy (not really) when he hit those occasional big shots usually when they did not mean anything however for every 3 he gave up 9 at the other end (bad math) I think I am on point 3 are you counting. You can still be an Iowa fan and not like the product on the court which in this year and historically under Franny Boy barely gets a C Plus hire a Mid Major Coach you get Mid Major Results. Oh, the one exception is the lovely 101 year old nuns team in Chicago he is a good coach.

Well your opinion on spending time in Iowa City isn't the same as his necessarily so that couldn't be less relevant.

Usually his big shots didn't mean anything? He helped win a boat load of games these the yrs. He's played a ton of games and mins over all this time. If you're not appreciative of that I don't know what to tell ya....

True you can be a fan and never be happy. That's totally your choice.

Without going after his defensive abilities I'll say this. Like any 3pt. specialist with a green light, sure they hit threes that make you jump out of your seat celebrating, but they are also prone to taking ill-advised shots that make you jump out of your chair yelling "WTF are you doing". To me I think those are the highs and lows with JBO. Not saying he didn't contribute or won't be missed, but we know exactly what we were going to get out of him. What we don't know is what we are going to get from the guy that takes his place. We might be surprised. Appreciated what he did over the course of his career, but ready to see him move on and the next man get their turn.

I don't remember him hitting many "big shots" this year. I do remember plenty of poor defense. As for being a fan, since when does being a fan mean blind loyalty to someone?

Of course Iowa would love to have it's all time 3 point and assist leader back another year. It's not going to happen cause the bill won't pass, but so much derp in this thread. I definitely agree with the point that, much like everyone else, I am ready to move on. I also wouldn't want that dynamic to cause JT, Ullis, Perkins or any other transfers.

Regardless of all that though, Iowa is likely going to be looking for a "shooter" in the transfer portal. And a big, but definitely a shooter. We have nothing on the perimeter from a 3 point stand point. So, I am hoping that Iowa brings a "shooter" in. The team needs a "3 point shooter" next season in the worst way. We can't count on CJF, or at least, I am hoping that Fran isn't putting all his eggs in that basket. So, IMO, do you think JT and Ullis will like a transfer coming in or would they rather have Jordan back?

My guess is Jordan back. Either way Fran needs to fill the spot and Iowa has a serious need in the shooter department.

I guess my thought is if the whole thing hinges on whether or not the bill passes, then I don't want him back. Nothing against him, but if the bill is his driving force it sounds like he's motivated to return for his own reasons and not in the best interest of the team.

I get what you're saying, but sometimes when you're on the fence about a decision, one variable is enough to push you one way. That could easily be the case here. If it is, its very understandable.

I know Bohannon said he would for sure come back if the bill passed, but it seemed to me he wasn't saying he for sure wouldn't if it didn't pass. Does anyone know for sure if he said that?

Fair enough and I totally get it. I also get his frustration with the NCAA, but IMO (and just my opinion and nothing more) it's time to shut up about it. We all know where he stands, but to me its just a bad look.

I just hope it wasn't causing tension within the team. If I was loving my time playing a game and someone on the team was constantly bitching about it, I know it would wear on me.

In an article in the DM Register, he pretty much shut the door on coming back if the bill did not pass. I don't remember his exact words but that is what I took away from his comments.

last response here it's kind of like the movie " I have crapped bigger than you". Big shots to win what? Just to stay alive in the first round of the NCAA tournament wow extremely under whelming. Now I will say this and I agree one has a path to live and prosperous where they want to (Love Spock) however for this guy 5 years is more than enough on the court, Questions?

If he comes back to play, stop bitching about parking tickets, NCAA grab bags, and stirring the pot about mundane things, etc.. That whiny petulant child act kind of started to get old a bit to me. Have your focus where it's supposed to be, on your team and defense.

But, I'd take his 3 pt shooting if his mind was in the right place for more consistency.

IMHO, he's really pinned himself between a rock and a hardspot. Now that he's opened the can of worms bitching about the NCAA and players getting paid, he'd really look like a hypocrite if he comes back if not getting paid, and he knows that, he's not dumb. With how dynamic the topic is and with all that has to be looked at and figured out, there is a very slim chance that paying players would get approved before next season.

Iowa needs to find a shooter in the transfer portal if Jordan doesn't come back. He fills a major need for next years team that Iowa is going to want and need regardless of what he decides.
