ISU showing what happens when you live by the 3

I agree. This is Ryan's most talented squad IMO. They also get the favorable schedule which makes them the favorite. Decker didn't do much against us. Iowa State just giving the ball to Kane didn't work. He got his points but with the missed 3s they still lost...even with the FT and TO advantages.

Wisconsin doesn't have an inside game. I'm trying to figure out how other teams are going to attack them. They are going to run their stuff and wait for the opponent to make a mistake. I don't see Wisconsin losing many but if their 3 point shooting starts fall off a bit then a lot of teams match up well with them...just looking for chinks in the armor.

As it relates to Wisconsin, just keep this in mind. They have not played a ranked team on a road or neutral site yet this year. In fact, their only road game against a ranked team this year will be when they come to Carver on Feb 22nd.

As opposed to the Hawks, who have played 4 top 10 teams on road/neutral sites so far this year and will play another one against MSU in Feb.

Don't get me wrong, Wisky is a good team, but not being battle tested on the road this year like we have will bite them, I think, once we hit B1G and NCAA tourney time.

Windsor, I mostly agree with you. But I will say I've been impressed with Nigel Hayes in the post for Wisconsin. The kid is going to be a nightmare for years to come. I think he has and will continue give them some sort of post presence this year (of course off the bench and limited minutes but it's something).

Yeah, I think Hayes has a bright future. I also think he will help them a lot this year...but more so at home than on the road. I suspect fouls will be a problem away from Kohl.

You ever been around here on game day? :D

This is true, however we at least have the wherewithal to know not to do it when we are getting the calls on a 2:1 clip. ISU is a team of chuckers, not slashers. No way they can complain.

Heck, they did the same thing against Iowa when the fouls were like 20-11.

And that's why they are ISU fans.

To the poster that said we do it just as bad as ISU...you couldn't be more wrong. In the 4 games we've played against ranked teams on the road, we have been outshot on FTs by a combined 32 free throws in those 4 games. Compare that to ISU who has played 4 ranked teams at home and have shot 45 more FTs than the opponent. So in 4 games against ranked teams, there has been a total disparity of 77 FTs (45 more for ISU and 32 less for Iowa). We have every reason to complain. ISU has absolutely NO REASON to complain.

So now you're changing your own argument from "it's not true" to "well every team gets an advantage"

I agree with you that every team gets an advantage at home but that wasn't the what he was arguing at all. He was saying you shouldn't complain about officiating when the foul disparity is that high.

That's not what he said when this started. All he did was point out the disparity and acted like it was unheard of for a home team to get the calls. The argument has since shifted to the fact that ISU fans shouldn't ***** when they're getting most of the calls, which is different (and I happen to agree with that comment).

They don't have an unfair advantage, the games aren't fixed. We didn't lose in Hilton because ISU shot more free throws than we did. We lost because we failed to hit a slew of them in crunch time.

Wrong.

What boat said ^

Iowa's style of play is conducive to getting to the free throw line more frequently. Plus its the ratio at which the fouls are in their advantage. When you consider their style of play, and how often they've been on the beneficial side of foul calls at home there is absolutely no reason for them to be complaining.

I never once said Iowa fans haven't complained about officiating on here. It happens. I'm sure it happens occasionally on every single fan board that exists. However, to complain about the officiating when it's so blatantly in your favor is hypocrisy at its finest. It's on a level only Clone fans can reach.

ISU had a 34-19 free throw shooting advantage, even after chucking up 3 after 3. At the 8 minute mark of the 2nd half, ISU had attempted 22 free throws and Kansas had a grand total of 6 free throw attempts. I don't know if there's a stat anywhere that shows this or not, but I've got to believe that ISU has to have the #1 home court free throw shooting discrepancy in the country. It's insane....especially considering that Kansas was definitely the aggressor in this game and was going to the hoop constantly while ISU was content to chuck up 3's.

Please point out where Spider says anything about ISU's fans in that post.

Not only did ISU fans complain, they were booing, after every single call that didn't go the Clone's way. It was embarrassing for them. I, like most people follow Twitter during the game, and the fans were getting beat up pretty good because of their behavior. I was almost embarrassed for them.......almost.

Clanking threes is bad enough, but ISU compounded the problem by a weak rebounding effort. Kansas had a 56 to 38 advantage. It seemed like a lot of ISU's 3-pt shots were taken when no other ISU players were anywhere near the hoop.

Gee that sounds like the NBA which is what Hoiberg is coaching up there.

Holy Freakin' Moly....

Some of you really need to purge Iowa State from your brains.

Iowa State isn't a very deep or big team. It sounds like they are starting to get beat up physically. It will be interesting to see how they do the rest of the year.

Why? Iowa doesn't play until Sunday. We will probably talk about the Wisconsin vs. Indiana game tomorrow. It's a basketball board and 2 highly ranked teams played last night. One of those teams is an instate rival with fans that are constantly trolling on a Hawkeye site. I don't see any problem with it...just my opinion.

I thought little brother was supposed to be obsessed with big brother, not the other way around.

True, but it is a long week with no game and many in here were rooting for ISU to beat Kansas last night.

I was pulling for them, as well, for what it is worth. Had the game on (muted) in the background while I did some work.

Not sure why any Iowa fan would pull for ISU. Dont give me this crap about helping our RPI either. I hope they go down in flames in Big 12 play.

KU +2 was an easy play last night. KU owns Fred.

I knew ISU hadnt won a ton against KU lately but I was shocked when ESPN showed the graphic that KU had won 16 out of 17 going into last night. Its laughable that Clown fans consider this a rivalry when they are 1 for their last 18.
