ISU showing what happens when you live by the 3

I think there's a difference between having a home court advantage and road teams getting hosed. We aren't ******** when we outshoot opponents from the FT line by a wide margin in Carver.

The only person arguing this point is you; I think most everyone here understands that in the majority of cases - especially in basketball - the officiating will slightly favor the home team. What most everyone else is arguing is that for ISU fans to complain about the officiating in a game where the refs were clearly biased towards their team is pretty ******* dumb.

ISU was in the double bonus with 10 minutes to go in the game, while the Clones didn't get called for their 8th foul until after the last media timeout.

I just looked at home free throw numbers for several ranked/high major teams and there isn't a team out there that I've looked at that gets a higher free throw attempt difference against ranked/similar opponents than ISU does. And for the most part, it's not even close. For example, MSU has played 3 ranked/high major teams at home (UNC, OSU and Minn), in those 3 games combined, MSU actually shot 3 fewer free throws, in total, than those 3 teams. Wisconsin has played 4 ranked/high major teams at home (Fla, WV, IA & Ill), and their combined free throw difference is 24. Take a look at Arizona, #1 team in the country, and in 4 games against ranked/high major teams (UNLV, Wash St, Wash, & Tex Tech), their FT difference is 37.

Now, as I've mentioned several times before, in 4 games against Michigan, Iowa, Baylor and Kansas, ISU shot a total of 45 more FTs than those teams. I can't find another team in the country that gets that kind of home cooking. Now, if ISU were a paint-oriented team, or a dribble drive team, then I might be able to understand SOMEWHAT, but they aren't. And they take the 8th most 3pt per game in the entire country. It's just flat out ridiculous.

And to top it all off, their entire dumba$$ fanbase act like they continually get the shaft at home by the refs....if I didn't hate them so much, I'd be embarrassed for them.

You are correct, statistically Iowa State has one of the highest disparities between home/road free throw attempts of any team in the country and has for the last few years.

However looking at flat 3 point attempts is the wrong way about it. Iowa State shoots a lot of threes but the rest of their shots come right at the rim. This is by design and it does cause a lot of fouls to be called and called correctly.

Look at the shot charts. Iowa State shoots threes and layups. They shot 71% from 2 in the ou game. It wasn't because they were shooting midrange shots.

ISU has one of the biggest FT disparities between road and home, because they get lots of "Home cooking" calls in Hilton. Those calls on a neutral court, or on the road just don't go their way. ISU does attack the rim, and they do go to the line, but at Hilton they get a ton more calls.

The funny thing is ISU fans just go berserk if you point out that they get calls at home. They think they always get screwed. They also think that getting +9 foul calls is a "OK" refed game, and they think they should have gotten several other calls. They then go on to lecture you that a well officiated game doesn't mean that the foul calls are even, ISU obviously deserves to be +9 +10 +11 in foul calls.

If you look at the KU game thread several of the Clone homers arguing that they were screwed by the refs say "anyone who wants to use the total number of fouls called to judge whether or not a team was screwed by the refs clearly has no clue what they are talking about". Lol really!? Now I fully understand the refs may miss a call here and there, but I have no freaking clue how fans could argue their team got jobbed by the refs when they shoot so many more free throws than their opponent. "Well they missed that one huge call in a key situation!".... Ya well they also made 15 other calls that went your way that allowed your team to even be in that key situation. If you want to point out individual calls you're just looking for something to blame the loss on. You have to look at the big picture.

I think most around here know I root for the Clones, but to listen to Clone fan talk about officiating is beyond frustrating. They seriously think they get screwed all the time, and they absolutely won't let go of that Kansas game last year (or the Ohio St. game). If you try to tell them the block/charge call was the most blown call in college BB, they don't want to hear it. So you didn't get that call, it was a bad call, it happens all the freaking time. If you point out the fact that if they didn't blow a 5 pt. lead in the last min. it never comes down to that, they freak out on you. If you don't absolutely agree with them that they were robbed of that game, you are a POS, and know nothing about BB.

The funniest part of all of it, was who cares? It ultimately didn't affect them winning the conference, or making the NCAA, or anything like that. Just let it go, it was a year ago!!

Today's game will be interesting. Texas doesn't defend the 3 well. Iowa State should get some to fall. Texas attacks on the inside. Iowa State can't stop big guys inside. I'm going with Texas because they are at home but won't be shocked if Iowa State wins...about due to live by the 3.

Of course some will say Iowa State won at BYU and BYU beat Texas on a neutral court. Well...North Carolina won at Michigan State. Michigan State won at Texas. Obviously North Carolina wins at home against Texas. Oops! Texas 86 - North Carolina 83...at North Carolina.

That's precisely what meant by what I posted. Iowa State does get a lot of calls at home they don't get on the road. A lot of Iowa State fans are defensive about it, and I don't get it. The fans are creating a hostile environment for officials and it causes Iowa State to get a very high number of calls relative to what happens on the road.

I also pull for Clones too, but they are the most complaining fanbase ever. Hard to hold a civil conversation. Every call goes against them.

And shockingly IS is getting "screwed" again by the refs against Texas today. LOL.

Wow, I just read the game thread. Should be titled ***OFFICAL B!TCH ABOUT THE REFS NON STOP GAME THREAD***

We do have some of those ourselves, but man they take it to a whole nother level.

Speaking of Iowa State...The Baylor win is looking less impressive by the day. Baylor lost at home and is now 1-3 in the conference.

Does every single ISU player complain after every single call. They look like a team full of Mccabes. Niang is lucky he didn't get T'd up after the last foul call on him. It doesn't look like they are handling adversity very well. It's almost like a team with a leader that quit on his team and transferred to another school. Or something like that......

Ridley going off on the Clowns, now. Texas post players having a field day while ISU is content to chuck 3 pt shots. If they get cold from outside, it's going to get ugly.

I didn't realize the stretch Iowa State's in right now. They might find themselves out of the rankings in a couple of weeks.

This is a win/win. If teh clownies win, it helps our RPI. If they lose, our RPI probably won't be affected in any significant amount in the end, AND, I get to hear more excuses on KXNO. As of Friday, according to TreeCareExpert and Brinson, the current excuse is "their upcoming schedule is harder".

We beat a ranked team on the road so no one cares.

I can't help but root against those guys even if it hurts us. I'd feel different if we beat them but I want them to tank and miss the tourney really bad.
