ISU Golfer Found Murdered Yesterday

My grandmother handwrote memoirs of her life. Great stuff. Stories about the Great Depression, World War II, how she felt during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After reading her life story, I'll be damned if I'm EVER going to surrender the traditions and fabric of this country over completely made up risks that the news puts on every day. And that especially includes Halloween. We live in a truly blessed time and we have a duty to imbue our children with a sense of trusting each other, not fearing our neighbors. Sure, if there's some creepy guy who you think has a dungeon in his basement, steer clear, but a blanket fear of people on this level is just absurd. Shit, I still remember in the early '80's having my mom refuse to let us eat Halloween candy until we took it to the hospital to have it x-rayed to make sure there were no needles or razor blades in it. It was absurd, there was no effin' way our neighbors were going to put razor blades in candy. But the news scared the ever living shit out of people. So maybe the world wasn't safer back then, maybe it was, but if you watched the news, it sure seemed dangerous.

I don't think its fear as much as being smarter. These days a lot of malls and zoos and other places have trick-or-treating in a controlled environment. So to me as a parent it seems like a no-brainer to steer kids towards things like that as opposed to accepting untraceable candy from people you don't know.

Smarter about what? Assuaging your fear that your neighbor slipped a razor blade into a Milky Way? You're totally scared, bruh. Read this informative piece on Wiki:

I like the detail and dedication to a theme.

My system would engender a menu of common but unfortunate accidents for these degenerates. You know..."stepping in front of" a train, slip and fall down a long flight of stairs, a fall from a high place. Many possibilities.

Well just killing off career criminals is a little inhumane for my taste. Some percentage surely posses redeaming qualities. In the mental search for a more compassionate, but still beneficial approach tailored to our modern times. I have decided that we should target repeat offenders and sentence them to 15 years of SpaceWorx.

SpaceWorx would be a government funded agency that puts people in space. Starting the colonization process of our solar systems other planetary bodies. SpaceWorx would be staffed on a labor side wholly with America's career criminals. I'm pretty sure this would be unconstitutional and there would be many hypothetical situations to plan and adjust for, but I think I'm on to something.

Not if Justice Kavanaugh comes to be it won't be. Anyway, they tried the whole "prison colony" experiment and it gave us the modern day Australia, so we'll need to tread lightly here.

Seriously NO. Iowa violent crimes are 20 percent lower than median.

That said, violent crime has always been a problem. Violent crime has been getting lower across the US.

You are correct! Killing, raping and violence have been around since man has been on earth. We have managed to take anything pure and innocent and perverted it to extremes unimaginable. That said Iowa is a safer state than most but we have our fair share of crime. We hear more about since social media damn near live feeds it anymore and it spreads faster. I guarantee the Dilleger and Capone days were as bad.Crime has always had it's place in society and always will. It doesn't help we victimize aggressors now days and show their 10 yr old pics as we demonize police.
The older I get I don't put much faith in the human race anymore.

Two shocking tragedies in Iowa the last few months. Iowa and DM, where I live, are still extremely safe places. People are fortunate to live here. Excellent quality of life, friendly people who help others, and a casual lifestyle without pretension.....

These two horrible situations give one pause though. Both occurred when the women were alone exercising, one jogging, the other playing golf. Both should have been able to do so without encountering any difficulties. Alas, that was not the case in both situations.....

Perhaps, despite the relative safety of living in Iowa, women, especially, should not be alone in rural or isolated situations One would think that playing golf by oneself in Ames, Iowa would be as safe as anywhere in the World, but apparently not.....

Women, again, especially, should not be alone in isolated areas, jogging, golfing, biking, walking etc. for their own good from now on.....

Unfortunately, that just might be necessary to provide a degree of security and safety in this great state.....

Iowa is still a wonderful place to grow up and live the rest of one's life.....

I also will mention as a society look at the filth we cling to. The horror movies and games that have murder, terror rape in them.
Some stand in line for hours to buy a ticket or to get the latest game. Don't try to tell me as a society it should be accepted but we crave it! As a combat veteran in the Marine Corps I wish those that crave it so much could witnesses as I what a body hit by white phosphorus does by boiling blood green and the skin hanging like mozzarella cheese off the skeleton of a corpse or seeing a head blown off in front of you.
Then tell me how great that movie was or how fun that game is! Sorry for the high horse all but these demons I fight regularly.

I don't rest without my twenty-one and nineteen yr old daughters whereabouts or contacting me daily.

My brother and sisters and I trick or treated in Philadelphia thru the sixth grade and never had any problems whatsoever. Then in DM a few years later, we were warned about razor blades in apples. Still haven't heard about any actual razor blades ending up in anyone's apples.....

Australia is not so bad man. Melbourne is top 3 for places I have ever been.

Plus this is a twist on England' prison colony practice. The criminal workers of SpaceWorx would not actually be the ones colonizing the habitats built by SpaceWorx. They would simply be the workers building the railroad and shouldering all the risk.

Their isn't one.. Your either lucky in this life or your not. Some are just way more so than others.
I believe everything you stated. There is no rime or reason who will be the next statistic.
It makes you wonder how many times we could of bought it by seconds and didn't even know it. It's damn near like cards, you have them or don't.

The guy who killed Tibbetts is actually the more troubling, as it were, since he as far as I've seen telegraphed nothing to indicate he'd do such a thing. Yeah, he was here illegally (as far as we can tell) but he was gainfully employed and wasn't a documented career criminal. This Ames killer was clearly a walking time bomb with an extensive record indicating inevitable future trouble.

The Tibbetts killer would have avoided the THOR protocol, but the Ames killer would have been dealt with.

I've almost died half a dozen times with full awareness of the situation. Two high speed rollover car crashes, three mountaineering events, two lightning strikes, one which caused nerve damage. Still have scars and permanent injuries. I literally ponder every single day how in the hell my cells are still running sodium/potassium pumps.

The metaphysical question is whether I'm lucky to have survived, or unlucky for having experienced such things.

With my system...I feel like I need to name it...How about "Thunder's Halting Obvious Recidivism," or THOR for short...

Under THOR, you'd never reach the point where golf clubs were necessary for punitive purposes. Under THOR, this derelict tweaker would have been feeding worms long ago.

How about you find the shittiest county in Iowa, like in SW Iowa somewhere, and fence that fucker off. Of course, you would pay anybody to relocate prior to fencing it. You throw all these degenerates into this highly secure area (County) and provide them with veggy seeds and some cattle, chicken and pigs and let them fend for themselves. In the long run would be cheaper and they can eat each other up within the walls. They can try to survive in their own society. The most expense to the taxpayer would be building the walls which wouldn't let them escape. Each state should do this.

But then the private prisons wouldnt make any money. You know...capitalism and whatnot.

The problem is I think Snake Pliskin is probably getting too old to help us out when the president's plane crashes...

I'm not scared at all "bruh". I trick or treated my whole childhood without any issue.
Sorry, I guess I read your point "as a parent" of going to the mall so you had "traceable" candy as an implication that you don't take your kids trick or treating.

Dude, I'm convinced that the Tylenol poisonings caused about 75% of the population of Iowa to go partially insane and it has gotten worse as they have aged. Case in point, my mom. Made us x-ray Halloween candy, but would let us ride around on home built mini bikes that had coffee can mufflers (from which I have a horrendous scar and skin graft) and let my dad drive us around in the bed of an F-150 on the highway. Then tonight, I told her that I let my 2 year old steer my car around the parking lot for 10 minutes to keep him from freaking out when I told him he had to get off the tractors at Home Depot and she was damned near ready to call CPS on me.
