Isaiah Moss

And here we go.... It's pure speculation what that means. I know I saw him look frustrated in the 2H against Nebraska when he got pulled. Against MSU he got put in for 20 seconds while Jok was hurt and then instantly benched at the next whistle.

IMO of the freshman he might be the most important. We just don't have anybody else who can defend peremiter players. Not to mention he has some offensive promise.

I doubt it means anything. These kids have lives outside of basketball.

I agree they have lives outside of basketball. They also know that Iowa fans are the people that read most of their tweets, so often times they do have meaning. As I mentioned it's just speculation but I think he is frustrated.

Now he's already used his redshirt and appears to be penciled in as a four year starter on a team that hasn't some promise going forward, so at the end of the day I think he'd be very unwise to transfer, and he will likely realize that.

I don't think using your redshirt really matters. Hutton used his and moved on. If you aren't part of the rotation you pretty much are redshirting anyways. Look at Fleming, he didn't redshirt and transferred but he still only played 80 total minutes

I'm not going to go batship crazy over a cryptic tweet after another tough game... Maybe there's fire with the smoke. Or maybe he was just letting off some steam. Either way till there's news to be had there's plenty of season left to be played. Not going to worry about the what ifs of off season too much just yet.

Yes look at Fleming. He wil get four years of college basketball, yes he played very little his freshman year at Iowa, but he will have three years of eligibility remaining. If moss transferred now, he would only get to play 3 total years of college basketball. That's why the redshirt matters.

It depends on the situation. Uthoff redshirted at Wisconsin and transferred as well. Only played 3 years at Iowa.

Yes I'm not going to go crazy over one tweet. As I said I think he'll end up staying at Iowa. I just thought it was interesting in regards to this thread, which was started about husband lack of playing time in the 2 halves of games.

Clearly it depends on the situation. My point is if is all else equal, more people would prefer three years of eligibility to two. Which bodes well for Iowa in this case.

Fleming really is only getting 3 years of eligibility because he didn't really play as a freshman. Really what's the difference between 0 minutes and 80 minutes of garbage time?

First of all I spelled that out in my post, that he barely played. Second of all Fleming would have been playing/practicing everyday with the hope of earning his spot in the rotation. If Moss transferred he would be practicing everyday knowing that he cannot play due to NCAA rules, and losing his year of eligibility.

It was pretty obvious he wasn't going to earning a spot in the rotation last year. He played 8 minutes total in conference play last year. Really his situation isn't any different than Moss last year.

Unhappy Player A: 3 years of eligibility remain. (Has already used his redshirt and would have to waste a year of eligibility if he transfers)

Unhappy Player B: 3 years of eligibility remain. (Has not used his redshirt and would be able to sit out a year at a new school without using eligibility).

If all else were equal between the two I'm of the belief that Player B would have the easier time transferring and would be more likely to transfer. That was my point in regards to Moss. If you disagree with that I'd like to hear an explanation. Any of your other arguing is just you trolling.

They're both going to play 3 years if Moss transfers out this year. He would play his redshirt freshman year, redshirt junior and redshirt senior year. Flemming didn't play as a freshman, will play his redshirt sophomore-redshirt senior year.

Troll,

I don't give a rats ass about Andrew Fleming. My original comment was that the fact that Isaiah Moss has used his redshirt already bodes well for us in regards to a possible transfer situation. I just spelled that out for you in my last post. Anything else is just you trolling. I'm done responding to you.

What are you talking about? Just because you use your redshirt doesn't mean you can't transfer. I think it's unlikely he does but there's really no difference between redshirting a year and just not playing because you're not a rotational player. If you end up transferring in both instances your essentially only playing 3 years of college basketball.

I don't get the issue about lack of playing time for players. I bet if any of them would show any effort to play defense, there would be plenty of playing time for them. I think that's why Sapp played so much.

Isaiah is an essential part of this team. He is starting and I do believe he will be starting next season.....

It is frustrating to me that he doesn't get more playing time, especially in the second half, so I can imagine how frustrating it is to him.....

He is a fan favorite and has had quite a bit to do with the success this season.....

I am certain that he sees the potential this team has in the coming years, and also his part in that success.....

Not only that, but Isaiah is a very Cool customer.....

If he meant this in a way in which would be the worst case scenario for Iowa basketball, then he's not being the best version of himself as a teammate.

Also...

If Unhappy Player A continues to work hard and improves he could play in the NBA (or overseas for money) someday...another reason not to sit another year. And Player A is almost guaranteed to play at his current school moving forward.

Unhappy Player B has virtually no chance of playing in the NBA...never say never I guess...and was buried on the depth chart. So Player B likely only has 3 years of basketball left in his career.

That's actually the ironic thing here. Moss is the one guy on our team who has the ability to guard perimeter players. He usually starts on the opposing teams best guard, but for some reason isn't out there near the end of games, unless he scores 10+ points in the first half. Makes people wonder if Fran values defense.
