Isaiah Moss Commits to Iowa

With guys like Moss coming off the bench, how many D-1 schools would Simeon beat? They would certainly be better than some of the real low level schools that we play non-conf and I would think they could give plenty of mid-majors a decent run too.

And the clowns.

Doc ya know I love your passion for hating the Clowns......BUT I have to disagree with you about Fred's program crashing. He's got it clicking and they aren't going downhill with him at the helm. Hes a quality coach and he has proven that over the last 4 years.

While I agree that he's done well I just don't think the transfer train will continue to run without a hiccup forever. When they have a .500 season will cyfans break out the rolodex of excuses.

Why don't you think it can continue to be successful? Honest question just curious of your thoughts.

I think he can continue to have success not just every year. He's brought in some risky players and everything has turned up roses. I just think sooner or later he's going to get a cancer and it's going to hurt the team. I don't think he'll fall to an 8 win team but I think 16 or 17 wins could happen which could cause them to miss the NCAA tournament and of course they would not accept an invitation to the NIT which is below them according to cyfans. As a clown fan do you see it working every year from now until Fred's retirement.

Until it does happen, why would you assume it will happen, just curious? Don't get me wrong, I felt the same way at the beginning of Hoibergs tenure, but the BB landscape has changed over the last 10 years, and Hoiberg was in front of the curve with transfers, etc. Plus he has taken in "the Cancers" and it hasn't hurt the team (Royce, Kane, and now BJD). If they get through this year with no problems, Hoiberg is 3 for 3 on kids with "attitude" problems at other teams. Plus if it does happen you address it then, as it will probably be just one player, and you remove the cancer at that point, just the same as you would if it were a kid who came in as a FR.

My problem with da Clowns has never been with Hoiberg or the team. It is with idiots clown fans like Foreverdouchy.

Is Forever a brother of AQctiveBoogers?

People forget that Morris, Thomas, Long, SDW, Niang, Edozie, and Custer were no transfers.

No people don't forget that. They just remember the transfers because there has been so many of them. Has nothing to do with forgetfulness and everything to do with the fact there has been so many transfers.

Bossi has good words about Moss, improved shooting touch/handle probably increased his value as a prospect, I'm betting he finds his way into the 150/100/whatever ranking you want.

I saw that. I think this really shows that people who live and die with these recruiting rankings are missing the mark. Take the Clownfantasies site for instance, they couldn't get excited for the kid cause he didn't have 4* behind his name (not yet anyway). Sure some realized that since Fred wanted him, he was worth it, but many completely miss that point.

You know CyTwins beat me up all the time about Fran's recruiting class, just because it didn't have that 4th *....yet these were kids Fran was in on early, kids that Wisconsin, Florida, Memphis, UNLV, ISU and other wanted, but Fran got. I'm pretty excited by the 4 guys verbal so far, with Moss being the kid I'm most excited about. He really blew up, and when they re-evaluate you will see him make a move up the rankings like Ulis did.

Will Fran never miss the tournament again? Every team has bad years for various reasons. I have no idea if Fred will have a "bad" year again or not. I also don't know if Fran will. My guess is that they both will at some time.

Hes a constant highlight reel. Fran can identify HS talent with the best of em. Excellent get.

The ISU butthurt is strong in this thread.

Finally got around to watching the video. He sure is good at finishing at the rim with both hands. Kinda looks like Marble how he keeps body control while finishing from awkward angles.

I was thinking the same thing. Kid shows legit athleticism and handle. Good size, runs the floor and can shoot...Yes Please! I don't really care much about rankings when it comes to whether a kid is a borderline 4 / high 3 star. Show me the tape. What skills does the player possess and what's the upside. This kid looks to have multiple skill sets with a very big upside. Very comparable to other highlight tapes I've seen of kids that have 4 star ratings.

Agree. There are only so many spots for 4 star kids. A good portion of those spots are taken up by kids who have peaked early, kids who were misevaluated, and kids who were only there due to bias of the person doing the evaluating.

Give me a 4 star over a 3 star any day but I'm smart enough to understand that a good portion of 3 stars end up better than a good portion of the 4 stars.

I hear what you're saying. To answer your question I don't see why his success in the transfer market wouldn't continue. It is more widespread than ever. Heck even coach k and izzo are open to it now. The ultimate goal I'm sure is to be able to recruit at the highest level in all forms (highschool. Transfer. Juco. Europe). Success breeds recruiting and you're fooling yourself if you think you can compete at the highest level trying to stand toe to toe with the blue bloods of the world for high school recruits. You better try to figure something else out. Hoiberg has proven himself as one of the best transfer recruiters in the country. With some more continued success I think he'll be able to start landing a blue chip recruit here and there which I'm sure is his ultimate goal to pair these blue chip supreme talents with proven commodities/immediate impact transfers.

One of the reasons his success in the transfer market won't continue is that more schools are getting involved in the process. I don't see a lot of success for Iowa state in the future. The high school coaches have seen how Fred will recruit over their players, and its going to be a lot tougher getting the transfers he has had in the past. He has been kind of lucky in the past also.

I really don't have a problem with Fred or the Cyclones. I have a problem with cyfans just like they say they have a problem with "hok" fans. While Fred should be commended for his handling of transfers it compares to me of driving a car recklessly. You can get away with it for a long time but it doesn't last forever. It's probably worth it to most Cyclone fans to go 6-7 years of being good for one average year and probably not different than what we expect at Iowa. I just don't think it will go forever without a problem.
