Iowa v Indiana Predictions

Ever think the attention Gatens commanded was part of the reason those other guys got so many good looks?

of course not, you don't miss Gatens at all.

sorry I don't miss Gatens

with out Gatens Iowa is avg 76.9 ppg vs 71.9 ppg with him
this years team is so much better without him vs with him.
40th in scoring, 18th in apg, 19th in rpg and is now up to 103 in fg% at 45.1 %

Wow, you seriously don't understand. Why throw Marble/Oladipo out there? FWIW, if Oladipo takes a lot of chances, Marble has the advantage.

Yes, Yogi can guard Gesell and I seriously doubt he guards him, the better question is can Hulls guard Gesell as he hasn't defended for four years.

Indiana is a very good team with better players than Iowa weather you like it or not, to not admit that is simply ignorant. I have been picking Iowa to win this game forever, so if you think I don't have confidence in Iowa you are a lunatic.

It comes down to rebounding and I don't care what the stats say about each team against far less than good competition either, they don't matter until the end of the year. The other factor is what team turns the ball over the least, both teams have had times where scoring was optional and turning it over was the best option offensively.

you are the one that said it would be a dunk fest with Oladipo, Watford and Zeller.
oh wait Oladipo is the 2nd coming of MJ and Zeller will make people forget about players like Walton, Russell and Chamberlain, QUIT making Indiana out to be something are not, and stop selling Iowa's talent short,

Yet again, you wonder why people "pick on you" Matt Gatens is exactly what this team needs, it sucks he graduated last year.

If Iowa can't defend dribble penetration, something Gesell has yet to prove he can do, it will turn into a dunkfest. This is why Clemmons guards Yogi, not Gesell and actually, this is a game where Ingram may come in handy, put him on Yogi as well. Red, Gesell can't defend a quick/athletic PG at this point in his career.

I get it now, by picking Iowa to beat Indiana, I am cutting Iowa's talent short...in what universe does that make sense?

nice to see how quickly you throw Marble under the bus in favor of Gatens,
sorry Gatens was a good playerr but he is not irreplaceable, Marble has done a very good job of replacing him

Hey guys, I find it helpful to end every post directed at herby with, "you stupid mother****er". Seems to be the most effective way to communicate with him.

oh by the way Indiana has played or will have played after this weekend 8 teams with a kenpom rating of 200 or worse vs Iowa's 7, looks equal to me in the talent level of both teams
Iowa has 6 teams in the top 150

Ihave my opinion of Indiana as I feel they are overrated, but it appears I am not allowed to either post my opinion or have one that does not follow others on this board opinions

Again, your ignorance is bliss. Marble and Gatens DO NOT play the same position. If Gatens were still at Iowa either Gesell or Clemmons wouldn't be starting, probably Clemmons, or did I just throw him under the bus as well?

You can have your opinions all you want, but you make up things like others throwing players under the bus. You are quick to throw Gatens under the bus when he was Iowa's best player for the better part of the last four years.

All you do is attack other posters for not agreeing with you by throwing out stats that mean absolutely nothing at this point.

I don't disagree on the overrated part, they have their issues, but again not admit they have more talent and are a better team today is just plain dumb.

The BIG is Michigan and Indiana, then everyone else at this point.

If you weren't allowed to have your opinion you'd be banned for your opinion.

I agree that indiana is overrated but I can admit that they are more talented than iowa. But talent doesn't win games and iowa has a chance. A really good chance in my opinion.

Keys for iowa:
1) marble needs to take over
2) woodbury and clemmons need to be on the court and stay out of foul trouble (clemmons is the best on ball defender to counter yogi and woody can alter the shots of the high flying slashers)
3) keep indiana off the offensive glass
4) iowa must start quickly and not get behind

Remember herby indiana has to prove they deserve the accolades from the preseason. But iowa also has to prove that what they did last yr wasn't a fluke. Both teams have things to prove but you tend to only look at it from one side.

I think its funny that you defend current players/coaches to no end but you throw former players under the bus.

Do you honestly think the team is better statistically because Gatens left? Think it could have anything to do with the added talent and current players improving?

herby is real smooth, thus his quote in my signature.

also, way to ruin the thread herb-derp. isn't this about the time of year for you to get banned? it's like a new years resolution for HN!

I missed herbs score prediction on the game. I predict Hoosiers 83- Iowa 72. Hope I'm wrong. Not missing Gatens just proves herpaderps bball knowledge

I think with the sell-out crowd and all the excitement surrounding this game, UI wins it in OT.
UI-81
IU-78

don't see a dunk fest myself as Yogi is scoring 6.4 ppg in 26.0 mpg
Gesell 9.4 ppg in 25.1 mpg, to me the edge goes to Gesell
as for Gatens when the team needed him the most in the NIT it was White, Marble, McCabe and Basabe that scored 69 points in a 84-75 victory, Gaten had a whopping 7 points in the Dayton game
the Oregon game, Marble 31 points, White 22 points, Basabe 17 points for a total of 70 points in a 108-97 point loss. again Gatens had just 7 points.
this is what Iowa returned and what Fran's has added a top 25 class too.. it was the younger players that stepped forward, and they all are back, this is why I am not scared of Indiana, and it appears some fans overlook.

You realize those guys stepped up like that because everybody and their mother's dog was keying on Gatens, right? Plus, both of those games were track meets, not the ideal flow for Gatens to get hot.

C'mon Tork if you can't prove it with a stat then herby isn't gonna realize it
