Iowa post-game shenanigans were unforgettable

Minny metrodome personnel deserved it....i remember being there at the game in the 90's where they instituted the "noise rule" against Iowa...the visiting team.

There were so many Hawk fans there and when the minny qb would complain, the crowd would only get louder as the minny fans would also then chime in with the overwhelmingly majority Hawk fans. Iowa was warned, then penalized at least once, maybe more. Back when Nick Bell was breaking tackles.

LOL, lotta good memories vs them ol' gophers.

Now I don't know if this is true or not, as I heard it from my dad's buddy. But back in the '80's they had a rule where a team could get called for delay of game if the crowd was too loud. I believe it was a game at the Dump up in Minnesota where Iowa fans were so dang loud that Minnesota got called for delay of game. Liek, they got the warning or whatever and then the Hawk fans got louder and bam, flag on Minnesota. My dad's buddy claimed he was at the game, but I don't recall it happening. Does anyone remember that because if it is true, it is probably the second greatest Hawk fan at the Dump story. Oh, I forgot about the bathroom incident, make it the third best story.

Actually it's better than that.

IOWA was warned for delay of game due to noise, even though they were the visiting team. Minnesota fans realized it was their best shot, and actually started making noise against their own offense, hoping to get the call.

It was surreal. People were looking around at each other shaking their heads in disbelief.

If that happened again in today's PC world, the Iowa AD would be forced to issue a written apology for what was obviously a hate crime against furry rodents.

So why would you storm the field against a down minnesota team, which you were obviously favored?

ROSE BOWL!!!!!!
Something the clowns will never ever have that opportunity to take that all in! NEVER!

I do not share your arrogance. When the SEZ is complete, the Big Ten may attempt to jettison Iowa in favor of Iowa State in order to renew the great Nebraska-ISU rivalry. Conferences are not static any longer and we are incredibly vulnerable.

Arrogance? Just a fact.

See Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines v. Long and Iowa back in the day. Harbaugh was a big whiner even then. . .

I remember. By the bedpan of Gene Rayburn, that was funny.

Great memories from this game. I took my dad and sat in the upper deck. Towards the end of the game I told dad that we should work our way down to the lower part as we might never get another chance to celebrate a perfect big ten season. Scene was awesome. If I remember right one of the first guys to run on the field was tackled by the cops...but they let him go after it was obvious that there was going to be a huge amount of fans on the field.

Two things that really stand out in my mind was that 2 hours before the game as you walked around the metrodome it was about 80-20 hawk fans and it was funny watching gopher fans drive by and look at all the hawk fans in disgust.

The same thing happened in the upper deck when gopher fans came out of the tunnel to go to their seats and turned around to look at a huge mass of iowa fans filling up those seats around them you could tell they were ******. I know...cool story.

I was there as well, sitting in the upper level so I had a great view of all that was unfolding. The best part is the security had set off the alarm in the metrodome to try and get fans out of the dome, but it had no effect whatsoever. It was beautiful.

I was at this game, too. That is not really correct. I think the alarm just made the fans on the field more intent on accomplishing their goal (pun intended). This was a great game to watch in the stadium, but the tailgating at 7:30 AM was pretty cold, unless that was the 2004 game that I went to.
