Iowa Point Guards

If Bohannon stays out of the post, we'll be fine. Gesell had better athleticism and got stuffed too often. Leave the drives to the hoop to Williams.

Gesell was so predictable in the final 10 secs I could've blocked him. Not hard to defend a guy who had no left hand, is a below avg shooter, and can't finish.

Its going to be fun watching Williams and Bohannon, especially with the talent they have around them. I think this team is going to have a lot different look than last years team. I doubt other teams really don't have any idea on how to prepare for Iowa, compared to the last two or three years. They might surprise people.

Book it. JB will have far more success scoring than MG, both from the perimeter and at the rim. Being able to bury the 3 from anywhere changes everything for a pg. You could ignore MG outside of 17 feet.

And at the rim? I'll have what you're having. I'd honestly be surprised if Bohannon averaged 8 ppg in his career like Mike did.

If Bohannon gets as many minutes as Gesell I think he would average more than Gesell averaged. Bohannon is going to be around a lot more talent than Gesell, and he is going to have a lot more competition for playing time than Gesell.

If Bohannon was as good as Mike the minutes are there. The PG spot is wide open. The reason Bohannon won't get as many minutes as Mike will be because of defense

2 threes and a couple free throws a game seems plausible. Points at the rim are a little different story.

I'd really be surprised if he averaged 8ppg in his career. I think he will be a liability on defense which will limit his minutes and the scouting report will be out on him. Run him off the line and he's not going to hurt you in the paint

You might end up being right, but barring an Oges/Ellingson disappearance of 3pt ability, even in limited minutes he could hit a couple threes every game; he's that good of a 3pt shooter.

Ogelsby was 6'5, Ellginson is 6'4. Bohannon is 6'0. So if he's playing off the ball like a SG he's going to have a really tough time on the defensive end and if he's playing PG I just see him having a hard time getting open since nobody can drive and kick to him

The only thing is Bo can can hit threes from 25 ft on a regular basis.

This. Will he score more points than MG did as a freshman or his career? Probably not because he won't play as much as MG did. Will he be a better offensive player than MG during his career, absolutely.

Being a knock down shooter opens up so much for guys around you and will give a guy with less athleticism a better chance of getting into the lane. Decision making and defense remain to be seen.

I have to kind of laugh at those that talk about Gesell's shooting. He supposedly couldn't finish at the rim and he couldn't make 3s, yet his career FG percentage was better than both Dean Oliver and Jeff Horner in comparison to other recent PGs that started four years here. If Bohannon can hit at around 40 percent of his career shots like those three did (especially with the assists and steals on top of that), I'll be pleasantly surprised. And those last two had Clemmons and Mike Henderson as their backcourt mates, neither of which was much of a shooter to play off. That's why it'd be nice if Jok can play the two a bit more this year, give Christian Williams room to drive and Bohannon space to shoot the three when they play together.

What were Brody Boydes stats? That's who I see Bohannon being similar to style wise. I think this kid has been working on his handle a lot and seems to want to pattern his game after Steph Curry (who wouldn't right?) Well I'm not sure if he's quick enough or just plain good enough to be anywhere in that stratosphere but if he can learn to run off screens and can shoot there's no reason he couldn't score 6-8 pts a game minimum. Now can he get strong enough and is he athletic enough to play inside the lane? Well if your quick enough to an extent you don't need to be a ton stronger. Look at Tyler Ullis. Much smaller then him right? Dude's in the NBA now and left KY early of all things and I don't think his jumper is as good as Jordans (based on reputation) So now I'm not saying he's the next Curry or Ullis. I'm just saying he's very much more likely to be more of an offensive impact than MG was.
