Just realize Iowa for what it is. Finally, a NCAA tourney team. Not a B1G championship team (unless they win the B1G tournament).

Why am I stooped? 'Cause I disagree with you (and Bilas)? Must make you a genius, huh?I will take the opinion of Jay Bilas over yours. He said on Wednesday that Iowa is as good as anybody in the country and can win the national title this year.
That is athletic enough for me.
He is the color guy for the game Tuesday night against MSU. I would suggest not watching it unless you want to realize how stupid you are.
Iowa is still athletically challenged. If the shooting is off, and if the team doesn't play as a team on offense, Iowa's offense has rough sledding... Still missing way too many free throws.
In the Meechegan game, how many times did I see a Hawk go down low just to be rejected?
What's with Marble, anyway? He tries some crazy shot (hoping to get the foul call, obviously) which leads to a breakout for the other team compounded with a numbers disadvantage for Iowa because Marble is laying on the floor.
To be good, Iowa needs to recruit some athletes.
I don't know many realistic folks who picked a title this year...but now with what MSU is going through injury wise, this is Iowa's best chance at a title since 06. They need to hammer down and win their next three: at NW, home MSU and at Illinois. Get through that and its OSU and Michigan back home....I think the Hawks can go 5-0 during that stretch...not a given and it's more likely they don't.
But if they do, if they get to 9-2 during that stretch, they'll be no worse than tied for the Big Ten lead.
I expect Woody to take a HUGE step forward next year. He was a big time recruit, and with that I believe came unrealistic expectations. It just takes big men longer for their skills to catch up with their body.(see Les Jepsen, Jared Reiner, Erik Hansen etc.) Woody, is farther along at this point in his career than all three of the big men I listed. I have always thought we would not see his true potential until his Jr. year. Woody has the talent. He is physical, he plays pretty good D, and is one of the best passing big men I have seen at Iowa in a long time. He also has a chip on his shoulder and is not intimidated. These are all things that can not be taught. The rest will come. I do believe this.
That being said, we can't have him getting his dunks blocked by the rim any more.
Come on. Seriously? Your comparison of Ogelsby to Gatens is stunning. JO finally has one good shooting game and suddenly this? U havent forgotten just how sh#$!@y those teams were during Gatens' years correct? What would happen if you replaced Gatens with Ogelsby and the defenses keyed solely on him? Think he might have struggled getting off a shot? Kind of like the other night x an entire season. How soon we forget. What Gatens accomplished on those teams is remarkable. And no my first name is not Mike.[/QUO
You also have to take into account the mindset you have when you're the go to guy. Josh O would be a completely different player mentally if he was the primary scoring option the last 2 years. Other than a 2 week run his senior year, Gatens wasn't a super star.
Dropped phone sorry. End the discusson with this? JO never had to play two years with John Lickliter or share a backcourt with him. How would that have gone? LOL
I just don't see much of a difference between how Gatens played his junior year and how Josh O has played this year. Obviously Josh is playing less minutes but other than that its pretty close.
Wow... You have a short memory.
Matt always had a much more complete floor game than josh who's game is the 3 point shot... Granted he has hit maybe 2 shots this year off the fake, one dribble pull up.
Husky, this is obviously just speculation on my part, but I envision Jok to be like Stuaskis. We all understand about Jok's injuries in college and whether he can get back to 100%. If he does, then he will be our Stauskis. Man, Stauskis is an excellent player.
