I Like Tim Tebow

Of course not, I just don't have a problem with an athlete thanking God for the athletic gifts he/she received and what they allowed him/her to accomplish.

If you think Tebow is praying "thank you God for letting me win" you are sorely mistaken.

I do not have a problem with players praying to God thanking them for their abilities, the problem I have is them making a spectacle of themselves doing it in public.

...and all the righteous believers falling all over themselves to applaud the gratuitous behavior, all the while cursing every other religion and practicing appalling intolerance for any beliefs not in line with their own.

Man, I wish we had some devout, practicing Jews or Muslims on this board. It would make these discussions so much richer. Way too homogeneous up in here.

And I've never seen Tebow do this in a Mall, or in Times Square. Football stadiums are privately owned places. The public has to pay to get in. He's doing this at his job. His job just happens to be one that the public has an interest in and is therefore televised to millions around the world.

To what length will you go to give this guy a pass, Duff?? I mean, I get that you're on the christian god-squad too, but I always thought you were a bit more realistic and reasonable than a lot of the ultra-goddy posters around here. Do you not see how tebow is exploiting his "faith" for personal gain, and how he is held to a different (lower) standard in his job because of it?? And how horribly biased it all is, because he's a white christian male and not some other religion, race, and gender?

Religion has nothing to do with me not liking Tebow. He just seems like a total dork.

Anyone seen his new commercial? It kinda makes me die a little inside every time I see it.

Wowsa, you really think that is what he is doing? You don't even know the guy. Geesh.

And with that. Tim Tebow's fate as a below average QB in the NFL is sealed.

If he is lucky he will have a below average season, the guy can't throw a good pass to save his life......and the DLine and LB in this league love to **** pound running QB's and that is exactly what they will do to tebow.

I don't for a second believe he's being anything other than genuine.

Personal gain? How so? Do you think his expressions of faith are helping him gain endorsements?

And how is he being held to a lower standard? He has to be one of the most criticized QB's of all time. Rightly so. His passing skills and pocket presence are horrible.

I could care less about Tebow and his faith. I'm not mad at him for his beliefs and that has nothing to do with why I disliked him. I disliked him because I was sick of hearing about how great he is and how faithful he is and how he prays and how he wipes his *** with blessed toilet paper and washes his hands in holy water.

I realized that my dislike for Tebow as misplaced. I think that is the case with a lot of people. I think the anger is misplaced... be angry at ESPN and the media, but don't be mad at a guy who is just being himself and not doing any harm to anyone else.

If you want to diss on his ability to play QB, go for it, because I agree that he is not a great passer. But don't hate him because he is religious. He isn't the one taking pictures and telling the camera man to put him on the TV while he is kneeling or the one who is publishing stories constantly about him or the one who does segments on ESPN about him and everything he does.

It's the media, not Tebow.

Truth

Wanna know why he gets so much coverage?

A post on a Hawkeye message board about a terrible QB in Denver, who went to school in FLA, has generated 200 posts and 2500 views in 8 hrs. Mystery solved.

Which is why the option isn't used much in the NFL. DE's in particular have the combination of size, quickness, and power to punish/injure an option QB when they make the wrong decision.

What justified his high draft position? Why is he starting over a more talented, more experienced pro QB?
tebow is being held to a different/lower standard than other QBs in teh NFL
any other guy with his (lack of) talent would have been converted or cut

Yeah because if the Broncos turn out to suck they are going to keep trotting him out there. You know cuz fans and owners don't care about winning. Are you this blinded by your hatred?

So in your expert opinion, there is NO WAY Kyle Orton could or would have won the four games vs cupcakes that tebow "won"?
Get a grip on yourself...the christian mancrush is disgusting.

Nothing. I believe the people responsible for picking him have been fired?

Why is he starting over a more talented, more experienced pro QB?
Maybe because he is being paid a boatload of money as a 1st round draft choice. This happens quite often in the NFL. See Jamarcus Russell for example. The Broncos have invested a lot of money in Tebow and they want to see what they've got.

In the near future, Elway and Co are going to have to make a call on Tebow. Should they stick with him with the hope that his passing skills will improve, or should they cut him loose and take the financial hit. In my opinion, in their evaluation process, Tebow's race and expression of faith will have NO IMPACT on their decision.
