What are you referring to in my post? And yes I have watched almost every game for 30 years.Do you actually watch the games?

Vork22 for some reason this got to your post which it wasn't meant for you. Sorry it was meant for caddy. What are you referring to in my post? And yes I have watched almost every game for 30 years.
Are you serious? Didn't need to? Newsflash. We aren't a good enough team to hold back because we don't need a certain phase of our game. We're not Alabama. Illinois outplayed us the entire game until the interception by Snyder. Oh, but we are so good we were just toying with them for 3 quarters, then opened it up in the 4th quarter. Ferentz wanted to establish the run, but like every other game this year we couldn't. It was exactly the opposite of your thinking. Ivory Kelly Martin and Toren Young were on the field right away because Ferentz thought we could run all over Illinois like every other team has this year. Oh, but yes, we're saving the Raider package for after the break, and we're also gonna blitz like hell as well, right? Teams will be shocked when we unleash the entire playbook on them.
---------Ripping high school kids is weak and pathetic. It won’t be tolerated on here. Period.
Rob - I already said that it's not directed at the kids....but how do you bring this subject up without it coming out that way? It's a no lose situation. I do nothing but rip KF for lazy recruiting....have for years. In all seriousness, the longer you are away from state of Iowa,,,,,31 years for me....the more detached you get from the cheering for your local boys to make good in a Hawk uniform. You just want to win. And also, if you are living in an area (Dallas) where losing is not tolerated like it is at Iowa, you get jaded real quick and get pissed when you see TWO 10 year deals given to a coach who has never once uttered the words National Championship as a goal of his. Despite being paid like a coach who expectations are to compete for one....or at least give lip service to the idea. I really did not mean to offend the preps being recruited...I AM sick of Ferments crutch of doing this though!!!
Actually I think those were poor examples based on his conclusion. He should have said "Being a mediocre athlete does not mean you can't be a great player."Nicely done with those examples.
The statement, "Being a good athlete no doubt helps, but that alone doesn't guarantee success." was referring to the earlier statements, that we need to recruit better athletes and avoid marginal athletes, but, yes, if taken directly from my statement, it is a mild non sequitur. I wouldn't call it "backwards logic," as the overall premise is that having great athleticism is not a prerequisite to success in sports, and that can be argued with examples from either angle.Actually I think those were poor examples based on his conclusion. Or he could have used examples of great athletes who weren't successful players (of which I'm sure there are plenty). Little backwards logic. I absolutely agree with the statement though!
Iowa won the game by 4 TD's dude, without doing anything. Do you think defensively we showed the same things against IL as we did Penn State? I don't. Cause I watched. Iowa has a bye week - and 2 weeks to work on different packages for the 2nd half of the season. I didn't say Iowa held back - I said they played IL straight up cause they didn't have to do much more. Do you think the bye week is NOT used to implement new wrinkles for football teams?
Ah MB, didn't see that earlier post and haven't taken literary/logic classes for decadesThe statement, "Being a good athlete no doubt helps, but that alone doesn't guarantee success." was referring to the earlier statements, that we need to recruit better athletes and avoid marginal athletes, but, yes, if taken directly from my statement, it is a mild non sequitur. To the original poster. Call the coach by his name. You wouldn't call him that name to his face. Critique all you want, but have the decency to use his name when you're critiquing him and the program. It's so, so . . . bush league. Same for anyone else who attempts to use some perceived clever derivative of his name.
Well that explains that no worries.Vork22 for some reason this got to your post which it wasn't meant for you. Sorry it was meant for caddy.
I agree with everything you said ... except for two letters ... the OP is now "Haymaker" and not Playmaker.
Video attached for further explanation.
If our speed is so good, then why do we consistently have problems with our receivers getting open? The majority of our targets are to the tight ends.
------I remember about 5 years back we recruited a kid like you describe out of Decorah, Iowa. So are you willing to pass on guys like Josey Jewell?
Someone always has to go cheery pick a diamond in the rough....problem is, Ferments recruits almost all of his players from the Decorah's of the world.....he has been lazy for a decade now. Just look where the kids from the first Orange Bowl team came from....night and day difference from now.
Rob - While it may have been in bad taste to post the links, it is impossible to cite bad recruiting without citing examples...although one could say that the lack of athleticism on the field speaks for itself. Yes, I do think Ferments is a fraud and has become ULTRA lazy in his recruiting practices.....and the reason is because he has 20 years of science on his side showing him how to do "just enough" to keep the wolves at bay...."hey, 7-5 is awesome according to his boss"....why should he bust his ass trying to reach the ultimate level? His smoke and mirrors act on Iowa football consumer has been nothing short of genius....I will give him that!
Yes, I was taking your new name and riding with that.I hate to be a "credit-taker", but I named him Haymaker almost as soon as he started posting on this board
