Iowa won the game by 4 TD's dude, without doing anything. Do you think defensively we showed the same things against IL as we did Penn State? I don't. Cause I watched. Iowa has a bye week - and 2 weeks to work on different packages for the 2nd half of the season. I didn't say Iowa held back - I said they played IL straight up cause they didn't have to do much more. Do you think the bye week is NOT used to implement new wrinkles for football teams?

Rob - I already said that it's not directed at the kids....but how do you bring this subject up without it coming out that way? It's a no lose situation. When you link stories of two recruits you're most certainly calling them out. Saying sorry while you post it is weak and pathetic. We get it. You don't like Ferentz. That's your agenda. Bring recruits into it again and you're gone. Period.

Actually I think those were poor examples based on his conclusion. He should have said "Being a mediocre athlete does not mean you can't be a great player."

Or he could have used examples of great athletes who weren't successful players (of which I'm sure there are plenty). Little backwards logic. I absolutely agree with the statement though!

The statement, "Being a good athlete no doubt helps, but that alone doesn't guarantee success." was referring to the earlier statements, that we need to recruit better athletes and avoid marginal athletes, but, yes, if taken directly from my statement, it is a mild non sequitur. I wouldn't call it "backwards logic," as the overall premise is that having great athleticism is not a prerequisite to success in sports, and that can be argued with examples from either angle.

Of course they did. They started Wirfs and sat Boone. It was a get healthy kind of game and for Wirfs to get some experience. I am sure there was other stuff like this but you are correct they were not treating this the same as if Penn State was our opponent.

Rob - While it may have been in bad taste to post the links, it is impossible to cite bad recruiting without citing examples...although one could say that the lack of athleticism on the field speaks for itself. Yes, I do think Ferments is a fraud and has become ULTRA lazy in his recruiting practices.....and the reason is because he has 20 years of science on his side showing him how to do "just enough" to keep the wolves at bay...."hey, 7-5 is awesome according to his boss"....why should he bust his ass trying to reach the ultimate level? His smoke and mirrors act on Iowa football consumer has been nothing short of genius....I will give him that!

You think winning 8 games a year over the last 16 years is happening because Ferentz does the “bare minimum”? Dude you are an idiot. If it is ok for you to call the coach names then you should be ok with calling you a f***ing idiot. Ferentz at Iowa, playing with all these terrible players as you claim has won nearly as many or more games than Penn St, (134 wins) Michigan (134 wins), Nebraska (139 wins), and Michigan St (127 wins) have (Iowa with 135 wins). If Ferentz can do this all while doing the most lazy recruiting possible, then he must be a coaching God to then to take said horrible players and get the same amount of wins over a lengthy amount of time as Blue blood programs do.

There's no "may have been" about it. It was in poor taste. You're referencing kids currently in high school, it's lame and, again, it won't be tolerated.

You can talk about recruiting misses without talking about kids that haven't missed. They're in high school still. Get it? Good lord.

I normally skip anything that has Playfaker's tag on it, but I read this thread and was heartened to see most posters call out his juvenile crap. And kudos to Rob Howe for letting him know dissing high school kids won't be tolerated.
