How much longer does Fran get?

Gee, after the win vs. Purdue, Fran was probably thought to deserve an extension. Now it's "how much longer does Fran get?"

It was a pathetic performance for sure but c'mon man, perspective is nice to have.
I think it's been demonstrated that Purdue and Northwestern are completely different teams. Both are long and rebound the ball and can shoot from the outside. As analogies go, Northwestern's athleticism is like driving a Mustang and Purdue's athleticism is like driving a bus <with the stamina of George Foreman>..

Just noticed this thread and made some comments on another thread that I am copying and posting here. My comments were in response to the team being young and thus inconsistent.................

True dat is. Having said that tho you can't use that excuse next year and even tho I predicted a roller coaster ride at the beginning of the season due to the youth of the team Fran himself has been at Iowa for seven years and yet fans want to treat him with kid gloves like this is only his third year at Iowa. He is responsible for keeping these classes more balanced.

Next year's excuse will be Jok is gone. So really all roads lead to two years from now when these freshman will be juniors and Fran will be going into his ninth year.

Interesting the two different mindsets among many forum posters between the football program and the basketball program. If Iowa were to let KF go after next season I don't think to many Iowa fans would be upset. I however sense the same would not be true if they let Fran go. Possible style of play in respective programs could be contributing to those feelings. I just sense tho that fan apathy towards Fran in is the early beginnings and if we go NIT this year and next Fran ass will will be on the red hot coals when these Freshmen are then Juniors.

Oh one more thing I realize it's spelled "though" and not "tho"............. just being lazy tonight. :)

At least it's not a loss to Northwestern State.

I bet Villanova is glad they were patient with Wright.

And Wright did not inherit a bare cupboard. Villanova went to the NCAA from 1995-1997 and again in 1999. They were in the NIT in 2000 and 2001.

What the hell happened in 2012? That sort of thing is unacceptable for a coach that is in what... his 11th season? ;)

The 2011–12 Villanova Wildcats men's basketball team represents Villanova University in the 2011–12college basketball season. Villanova is led by eleventh year head coach Jay Wright. The Wildcats participate in the Big East Conference and play their home games at The Pavilion with some select home games at the Wells Fargo Center. The Wildcats finished with a record of 13–19 overall, 5–13 in Big East play for a tie for fourteenth-place finish, Wright's worst season at Nova. They lost in the 2nd round in the 2012 Big East Men's Basketball Tournament to South Florida. They were not invited to a postseason tournament for the first time since 1998, leading to some speculation that Wright's job might be jeopardy.

which is ridiculous wouldn't you say?

3 years from now, these current freshmen will be seniors. Connor, Garza and nunge will be juniors, wieskamp a sophomore, Patrick a freshman. Those are all the recruits that Fran landed during the height of his success (so far) at Iowa. If he can't win with them and the facilities Iowa now has then it's probably not going to happen

How much longer does Cal get at Kentucky? With the talent he brings in he should win it all every year. Get your perspective back in line. Maybe we should fire Fran and bring Lick back since we only gave him 3 years.

All a moot point anyway because as long as Barta isn't as dumb as some people on here (no offense op) Fran will have us in the elite 8 in 3 years. Or at least in position to get upset as a really high seed.
Elite 8 in 3 years? Is that including this year? Elite 8 by 2018-19 season? I'd like to place a wager with you on that. Loser has to make a large sandwich board sign and wear it for 8 hrs in the Pedmall. Mine would say "give Fran an extension". Yours would say "Fire Fran now". Deal?

I thot you wanted to bring in Cal when he gets fired.

I live in Des Moines but I would do another bet with you that says this freshmen class sees the elite 8. Not that I think it's a guarantee or anything. Just a better than 50% chance so it's worth a bet.

Fran has never even made the Sweet 16. That's a pretty bold bet

There's the big, big difference when attempting to compare Fran with Jay W. 2 Sweet 16s, a Great 8 and a Final Four by year 8. How is Fran going to make up all that ground with 1.5 seasons to go????? Sorry but your analogy is poor and it only represents Fran's inability to achieve much of anything over 7 seasons.
