How do the next 4 games go?

I'm torn between 3-1 and 2-2. If our offense stays what it is.....I think Nebraska has more in the tank offensively to win at their place. As much as they suck ass. Jabba the Bret seems to own us when he is coaching on the sidelines.

I would like to think in 2 weeks they will have something dialed up for Northwestern. Not confident as I would like though.
Rutgers likely a rock fight...giving us the edge @home.

Iowa also probably losses one more game than they needed to....to get to Indy. Iowa probably finishes in 2nd place on the outside looking in for the 2nd year in a row. They do have the eaiser finish compared to Wisconsin and Minny though.

They go on without me. I will watch part of the Braska game, but anyone who pays for cable to subsidize these bread and circus sports leagues is a stupid sumnabitch. Fvck these people, they can find other fans. I hope Cooper DeJean shuts it down and focuses on his draft stock. There's literally no reason for him to play right now.

I'm torn.. I just hope we don't go to Indy. I don't want to have to watch all that build up and have us get smashed there. I don't want to lose every game or even most of em. But I don't want to win every game 10-6 just to go to Indy and get our doors blown off and embarrassed. This has been a crazy long season already to me these games are just tough to watch.

What a world we live in when Iowa fans openly cheer for their teams to lose. I will admit that I am not part of the younger generation but holy shit do I not understand the space you live you in.

I honestly really don't even care. This is the first time in my entire life that it really does feel insignificant to me. It's a weird feeling.
Very weird imo, I get it to a point and I understand the frustrations but Iowa still has a ton to play for this season. We've reached peek fan dustain and I think that just happens when you have one regime in place for as long as Iowa has. Kind of like when Nebraska fans moved on from Solich. He was basically running what NU had run for decades before and 8,9,10 win seasons weren't enough anymore. They were getting left behind by using an out of date offense. Their record didn't indicate they needed a change, but their fans wanted it so badly. They just knew it was going to be better with a better offensive minded coach. I feel some shades of Iowa basketball in 1999 as well. Going to the NCAA wasn't enough anymore, we needed more.

I get the offense stinks, but it still just blows my mind that Iowa got robbed on a horrible call yet are still 11-3 over the last calendar year and the fans are like "I hope they lose" or feel "indifferent" about the outcome of their favorite football team.

Iowa fans are going to get exactly what they want I am afriad, it's just strange to me how many of the diehards on here are throwing in the towel too.

If this is where you are, I get it to a point, but also don't completely get it.

Yea, you always make good points. I just don't understand how a coach in his 25th season along with his the experience of his son can have a team in this predicament where they are so depleted in a unit and non-competitive. Frustrating.

I do get it, I just don't think it's Brian, I think it's all Kirk. There's a big part of me that wants this to be the end for him as well. Like, I see the same issues you guys see, but I also take D and ST into account and Iowa has been pretty exceptional in those areas. So, I get it, I do, I am frustrated with the offense so bad but I don't think I could ever become numb to it right? Like, get to the point where I don't care anymore? Maybe I might get there if Iowa went like 3-9 for several seasons, or just had a string of losing years... I might have to reevaluate where I spend my time. Like, would it be worth it to be a Husker fan the last decade? Like, that would truly suck and I would ask myself regularly, why do I support this?

But I can't in good conscience be like "I hope this team loses so we don't get smoked in the championship game" for a program that is 49-20 since 2018 and is winning at this high of level. I also recognize that the program is 14-7 since last year. Which isn't ideal.

I know I am in the minority here and I will take the wrath ya guys want to dish out. I just feel like we could REALLY be in a nightmare as Hok fans. This is meh, not so great but still winning a whole F ton more then we lose.

Bigger picture my friend. Bigger picture. Normally I'd not be about this and before this season started I'd have said same thing to me you are now. But I'm burned out watching this ineptness on O and an HC and OC that won't do anything about it. I feel for the players involved. They are getting the ultimate shaft. I'm not sure if you can tell but things have bottomed out. Things really can't get a lot worse (kinda said and thought this last yr too but they proved me wrong) So now it's about looking ahead and I don't see how if KF and BF are enabled to continue all this nonsense that Iowa is going to be respectable in the upcoming seasons at all. Somethings gotta give and if that means losing a couple more games this yr to start that process then let's rip off the band aid

1. We will be favored in all games
2. The under will be 32 or less in all games but the over will hit in 3 out of 4
3. Win vs NW
4. Loss vs Rutgers
5. Win vs Illinois
6. Loss @ Nebraska

Wrap up the regular season at 8-4, which looks good on paper but when the fan base finally realizes that any offensive output would have put this team at 12-0 with such a weak schedule and in the national conversation for something other than how inept our offense is then the frustration and 'what-if' will finally set in.

Brian Ferentz contract will be nullified but he will be retained on the Iowa football staff.

George Barnett will be let go and be the fall guy.

I get it, watching teams win over and over does start to wear on me as well.

Why are you so worried about the future? Kirk is not going to be the future of Iowa football. He's 68 years old. He doesn't factor much longer if at all.

Bigger picture?

Bigger picture Iowa is in even better shape, 49-20 since 2018 and winning 71% of their games. They are 11-3 over the last calendar year.

It's funny to me how many people think that's bad.

8-4 will be dissappointing to me with our schedule this season, I was 9-3 or bust.

I don't think this is an unreasonable guess. 2-2, Brian gets shuffled around, Barnett gets let go.

I am not rooting for the Hawks to lose.
That said, I believe it is imperative for the future of the program that the Iowa offense needs a makeover - talent, coaching, scheme, strategy, culture.
If Kirk said tomorrow this was his last year, or Brian resigns, then I will continue to root for the Hawks as I have for over 50 years.
On the other hand, if losing is the only way to force the needed changes in the program, then I'm sorry to say I would be willing to endure losing out - if that's the only way to implement changes to the offense we need to be competitive in the future.
