Hawkeyes Offer DJ Carton

I think I'd still take TL, but the video I just watched of DJ was much better than what I'd seen a while back. DJ is definitely less "hot dog" but TL really looks like he could be something special.

I agree. We need depth there. Most talking heads will tell you the NCAA is a guard tournament. I just don't like taking two in the same class, that's all. I scratched my head when Iowa took MG and Sapp the same year, but that seemed to work OK, so what do I know.

Just my 2¢ .. .. GO HAWKS!!!

I trust Fran in recruiting and player development - he's pretty much knocked it out of the park since he stepped foot in IC. So, whatever he does is working and will work and he should keep doing that.

If he's knocked it out of the park, we'd have at least a Sweet 16 result to back that up. He has done a pretty fair job though I'd say, maybe a double off the Green Monster.

Nah... I'm gonna stick with knocking it out of the park with recruiting and player development. If you wanna argue that he's hit a double off the green monster overall, I'm good with that. But recruiting, identifying talent and then developing it, he's killing it. Hitting it of the park might not be a good enough analogy. Give me another school that's had 4 straight years with a 1st team All B1G selection with Marble, White, Uthoff and Jok?

I'd say Fran has done really well recruiting, but "knocked it out of the park" may be a little strong until we see something happen in the post season. (and I think we will over the next couple of years)

Given the option I would rather have Rocket Watts but I like Carton's game a lot

Given the option you would rather have anyone other than who Fran lands. If he landed a 5 star you'd rather have a different 5 star. Do us all a favor already and choke on a schlong.

This seems pretty unnecessary considering I think Carton is a Wisconsin lean. I really like Watts game and I really like Terry too and think he is a legit possibility.

Well if Fran's hit it out of the park then Coach K and Calipari must be hitting it to the moon then. But I like your optimistic take.

I know this number depends a lot on Cook and whether which year he leaves for the NBA, but does anyone know how many scholarships we have available for the 2019 class assuming that Patrick McCaffery does in fact play on scholarship?

Again - overall - I'd give Fran about a B to a B+ for his tenure at Iowa. He's got work to do, but he's done a pretty outstanding job given the circumstances he walked into and his future is so bright he has to wear shades. He's ROUTINELY bringing in top 150 kids now and has Iowa recruiting at it's highest clip in decades. In recruiting, getting all the best talent in the state to stay home and once again become Hawkeyes is huge considering they were leaving the state like rats jumping off a sinking ship since the end of the Tom Davis era. Doing that along with getting players like Cook from out of state and also having an eye for diamonds in the rough, he's absolutely KILLING it in recruiting and player development. Developing players who had lil to no offers into NBA draft picks and All B1G caliber players, it's a home run and it's got more than a couple of feet over the fence. Think of it, 4 different 1st team ALL B1G caliber players for 4 straight seasons at IOWA. When has that ever happened? I would guess NEVER

Coach K and Calipari is LOL worthy considering where their schools sit in the pecking order of college basketball and the crop of players they get to choose from every season.

After Patrick, there would be four, assuming everyone on the roster stays, which is tough to assume in this day and age.

Baer, Ellingson, Wagner and Williams would be the rides available for '19.
