Hawkeyes Offer DJ Carton

That is the point, Fran recruited well in securing a top 100 kid at Pg.

Mike was a good PG. Was he elite or a All conference performer? No, but he led us to 3 NCAA tournaments, and was a very solid player for us for 4 years.

There's definitely a more accurate way of describing this...

I liked Mike, he competed and came to Iowa when he had better options since we were trying to rebound from the Lick era. However, if you look around the league our PG play (recruiting rankings and production wise) can't be higher than 10th best in the league during the Fran era.

I bet you're wrong on that, I dunno how ya could even prove it... but a team that has finished in the top half of the league in 5 of Fran's 7 seasons is probably not gonna rank 10th or worse in many things.

So, Mike was in the top 10 for assist and assist to TO ratio in 3 of his 4 years, we saw what Jordan did last season. Again, I don't believe you're right on that at all but I'd love to be proven otherwise.

Remember those were unimpressive assists according to PC so probably should put an an asterisk next to it

What am I wrong about?

really? you can't even admit to knowing you've been wrong about being wrong. That's called a problem.

I am nearly positive there's been a slew more but these are the most recent

(Stolen from another post, but I added Moss in there)

1.)Before a game was played Jordan wasn't even a B1G worthy player
2) Iowa has bottom of the B1G talent
3) Iowa would finish 10th or worse in the B1G
4) Jordan wouldn't be Fr All B1G and anyone who said he would be is stupid
5) Moss was a clear miss
6) Iowa wouldn't even make the NIT Tournament.

I never said 1 or 3. I still don't think Jordan deserved to be on the Freshman team over Ward even though he was better offensively than I expected him to be (those unimpressive assists helped).

yeah we all know you said them all, part of being an adult is admitting your wrong sometimes. You'll get there.

I know I didn't say 1 and I don't remember saying 3. I've said before I was wrong on the All Freshman thing but I will say it again. I was wrong saying Jordan wouldn't be on the All Freshman team.

Ward deserved to be on the team, but I would have taken JBo over Cook to be honest.

so we've established you've been wrong... about a lot

Here's the composite rankings of PG's recruiting in the BIG according to each team since 2010 when Fran arrived. Iowa would rank 13 out of 14 according to this, and the only reason they don't finish in last place is because of Trey Dickerson's rating, and we all know how that turned out. I'd love to hear your rebuttal about how we're not only not the 13th in the conference at recruiting the PG position but how we're well in the top 10. Outside of Northwestern, name 4 other teams that would push us inside the top 10.

Purdue- Ronnie Johnson (96) Bryson Scott (94) Carsen Edwards (92) PJ Thompson (86) Grant Weatherford (82)
Wisconsin- Bronson Koenig (94) Brad Davison (92) Josh Gasser (90) Ben Brush (90) George Marshall (88) D'Mitrik Trice (83)
Maryland- Melo Trimble (98) Roddy Peters (98) Anthony Cowan (97) Jaylen Brantley (90) Seth Allen (87)
Minnesota- Isaiah Washington (95) Andre Hollins (94) Kevin Dorsey (93) Jarvis Johnson (90) Nate Mason (87) DeAndre Mathieu (83)
Michigan- Derrick Walton (98) Xavier Simpson (97) Trey Burke (94) Eli Brooks (88) Spike Albrecht (85)
Northwestern- Isiah Brown (86) Bryant McIntosh (86) Jordan Ash (86) Johnnie Vassar (85)
Michigan State- Keith Appling (98) Cassius Winston (98) Lourawls Nairn Jr (96) Travis Trice (84)
Iowa- Mike Gesell (96) Trey Dickerson (90) Bryce Cartwright (85) Jordan Bohannon (83) Anthony Clemmons (81)
Illinois- Jalen Coleman-Lands (98) Tracy Abrams (96) Trent Frazier (92) Tejon Lucas (91) DaMonte Williams (87) Jaylon Tate (86)
Ohio State- D'Angelo Russell (99) Shannon Scott (98) Aaron Craft (95) AJ Harris (95) Amedeo Della Valle (90)
Indiana- Yogi Ferrell (99) Devonte Green (87) Aljami Durham (87)
Penn State- Tony Carr (97) Taran Buie (94) Shep Garner (87) Geno Thorpe (86) Jamari Wheeler (85)

Rutgers- Corey Sanders (96) Myles Mack (94) Jerome Seagears (92) Eli Carter (89) Souf Mensah (87)

I said production - who cares about where a kid was ranked when he was 16. No one. Good enough rebuttal?

Haha, I guarantee you Iowa wouldn't be in the top 10 and Northwestern may jump them production wise. We benefitted by having Gesell ranked 96 and Dickerson ranked 90 and still finished 13/14.
Just admit it, PG recruiting hasn't been good. I wouldn't even say it's been mediocre. It's been pretty bad when you stack it up against other BIG teams.

I've stated PG has been Fran's weakest recruiting spot at least half a dozen times on this thread alone. So, I guess you got me? I think he's had back to back solid kids tho at PG in Mike and Jordan, so I'm hoping that's a sign for the future. Getting a Parade all American 4 star who went on to be Iowa school record holder in assist and went to 3 straight dances (Whens the last time that happened at Iowa?) and chasing that last season w our starting PG was All B1G Frosh has to count for something right? I give 0 shitz about recruiting rankings. Fran just has turned 4 straight lightly recruited kids (Uthoff might be an exception that I'd give ya) into All B1G performers.
