Get a pt. Guard

I don't know if Williams will be back next year, but Bohannon will probably be at Iowa for four years. It should be fun reading your posts next year, the year after, and the year after.

I think our guards will be bad next year unless we add an impact player or Connor is way better than I expect him to be. Losing Jok is going to be a huge blow

Not that big of blow in comparison to losing 4 starting seniors like last season. In fact we saw the team play pretty well without him in games this season. Put up 85+ on a Thad Matta team? Yeah, I think the blow of losing him is over blown. He's our best player, All B1G and a great shooter, but he's not all Iowa has going. We lost Marble, got better, we lost White got better. Last year we just lost TOO fricking much at once. Hawks gonna be just fine next year

Putting up 85 points on a bad defensive team at home is what we brag about now? Haha

Iowa is fine next season with out Jok, super excited to see it. I would wager with anyone we are better offensively, defensively, in W/L's and pretty much any category anyone wants to bet. Let's get this done, I will give you my paypal.

How's this? Here's a conservative estimate for our guards next year.

JBo- 11 PPG / 5 APG / 1 SPG / ~40% 3 PT
Moss - 12 PPG / 2 APG / 1 SPG / 38% 3 PT
Ellingson - 6 PPG / 2 APG / ~40% 3 PT
Williams - 4 PPG / 2 APG / 1 SPG
Total - 33 PPG / 11 APG / 3 SPG

2015/2016 Backcourt (MG, Sapp, Jok)
Total - 33 PPG / 10 APG / 3.6 SPG

So our backcourt next year can likely match the 2015/2016 backcourt offensively, a team that was at one time in the top 10 in the country. What's interesting is those 3 accounted for ~90 minutes and all started, whereas I'm just assuming the four above to account for 80 minutes at the 1 or 2 spots. Likely we should add Baer to our analysis as he plays the "3" as Jok did in 15/16. What I like about our current group is that they are much better from 3, and will likely shoot less.

So let's talk defense. This year Jok/JBo account for ~60 minutes a game. Jok graduating frees 30+ minutes. Now those minutes will likely be spread between Moss, Williams, and Ellingson, as I doubt JBo's minutes increase much. Our defense should vastly improve just by more court time for Moss & Wiliams, plus I think Jbo's D will improve some. Now I'm not saying our guards will be as good defensively as the 15/16, but they might not be too far off.

So you keep saying it's a foregone conclusion our guards will suck next year, I'm telling you that may not be the case. We know the front court will be the strength of our team, but most importantly we will need to improve our defense, in both the backcourt and frontcourt, and also vastly improve our rebounding.

What a weird post. Estimating production from our players and then doubling Moss' point total from this year is something that's hard to wrap my head around. I think our guards will be a liability next year, they are a liability this year and we lose our best player. You are estimating 33 ppg from our guards for next year and we're getting 45 ppg from them this year

My biggest concern losing Jok is replacing his rebounding, he is a good rebounder for a guard. But losing the points will not be much of a blow, it just means more shots for everyone else. I think Ellingson is as good of a 3 point shooter as Jok, I'd like to see him pick up some of the slack.

What a TYPICAL troll response from you. One item that I thought was inferred but you never know with your stupidity is that we also will need to replace Jok's 15 shots per game. I'm estimating that Moss will get the lion's share of those.

I knew you would come back saying that we average 45 this year and that will go down. That's why I included the 15/16 unit. As I also mentioned Jok really is playing the "3" now so we could add Baer's production to our projection for next year. I also mentioned why our defense should improve next year.

Again, you didn't really argue against anything in my post. You did your job as a troll and incited a response. Good work clown.

You say our guards will be a liability next year and they are a liability this year. Since they are far from a liability on offense this year, I assume you are talking about defense? If you are talking about defense, Jok is a bad defender so losing him won't hurt there.

When you lose a player, you don't have to worry about replacing his points. What you worry about is replacing his offensive efficiency. Since Jok is an efficient scorer, we need everyone else's scoring efficiency to go up a bit to balance out losing his good efficiency.

Well, tOSU did just hang an 83-73 loss on a very good Wisconsin team, and we happened to beat tOSU if you don't remember. And Maryland, our upcoming game, started the season 20-2 but is 2-4 in the last six games with losses to Minnesota (at home) and Penn St. (on the road).

Who knows? Maybe. The guy has 3 more years and the physical measurables. You suck.

Exactly. Given Fran's history of developing players it's not out of the question. Would I bet on it? Probably not, but why an Iowa fan would be so adamantly against it is odd. (5656 is a clown fan so it's not that odd).

Marble had a cup of coffee in the NBA and is oberseas now. Do I think Moss can be an all-conference player and play overseas? Absolutely.
