Get a pt. Guard

Why can't Moss, who's having a better statistical season than Marble did as a freshman, make a similar leap his sophomore year?

Moss is in his second year of the program and has seen his minutes go down. To predict him to make a leap like Marble who arguably improved more than anyone else over his career is probably not realistic

Years in the program is irrelevant in Moss's case. This is his first year of playing time and therefore he is prone to make strides during the off-season. Where he can analyze and work on improving his areas of weakness. You on the other hand are not prone for improvement as you have probably been a sour curmudgeon for most of your life.

56 you actually went through a time a week or so ago when you made some good sense with your posts. Now you must be bored, because you have reverted back to a bunch of nonsense. I always enjoy the response, "I don't know what to tell you." Yeah, you are right. You don't know.

I strongly agree that we need to improve our guard play in 2017-18. No doubt. Right. I think you will see that happen with the maturation of JB, Moss, Williams, Ellingson, and maybe down the road, with the McCaffrey boys. And, yes, Fran will continue to recruit quality players at the point guard position. So, what's your bitch?

He's struggled lately but he's losing minutes to two of our best players (Jok & Baer), so nothing to be ashamed of.

The fact that you've written him off as not having any chance to improve proves why everyone here knows your not an Iowa fan. It's similar to your troll earlier this year that he was a bust because he redshirted.

We're probably going to miss the NIT in year 7 of a coach. I think it's ok to bitch about it. I don't know what PG's were recruiting right now either so any information you can provide on that would be appreciated

Haha what are you even talking about? I haven't written him off at all. I do think he will improve but to say he will improve as much as Marble did is probably not realistic

He doesn't have to seeing as how he is already better as a freshman than Marble.

Moss: better shot/ stroke & more explosive
Marble: longer, better handle, better basketball IQ

Two of the things Marble did better than Moss can be learned or practiced (IQ & handles)

Good point. Plus I don't remember Marble being all that great as a sophomore either. Moss is already further along than Marble was his first year playing. It could very well be the red shirt year. Either way we should expect Moss to at least achieve Marble status by the end of his career here. The frame and skills are there. They just need to be honed.

Marble was solid as a sophomore:
11.5 PPG / 3.6 APG / 1.5 SPG / 39% 3pt

While I don't expect Moss to have those kind of assist numbers, I think he will certainly be able to score around 12 PPG with increased minutes.

Ya those stats aren't bad at all. Memory just doesn't recall feeling he was solid lol. I just remember the lanky doe eyed son of a legend Marble until his senior year where I distinctly remember him being lights out. For what its worth I see Moss eclipsing each one of those stats his sophomore year.

You expect Moss to be first team all conference and an NBA Draft Pick?

Marble killed it in the NIT game his sophomore year against Oregon I think. You could see by the end of that year he was gunna be really good.

How can you think our guards will be solid next year? I think our guards are below average this year and we're losing our best one

I didn't say they would be solid. You said they would be bad without taking into account that the ones returning next season aren't bad now and should improve next year. They may not be "solid" but they won't be "bad" either.

BTW, how good is "solid" anyway. I think they can be pretty good but not stellar. Is that solid? Or is solid pretty much average to slightly above average. In that case, yeah, I guess I do think they'll be solid.

So when you say year 7, does that mean once a coach is at a program for a few years, he should never miss the post season again? Or do you have something against having a down year in year 7 specifically?

I think it's bad to have a probable season with no post season at all in year 7 and I don't know that next year looks much better

I think our guards will be bad next year unless we add an impact player or Connor is way better than I expect him to be. Losing Jok is going to be a huge blow
