Their d line could stop our questionable run game. But now that Stanley and his WRs seem to be clicking that's bad news for ISU

The Iowa injuries are kinda shitty too. Hopefully Geno and Merryweather are back but assume Jackson is still out until after the bye

There's a full moon on Saturday the 14th. Gameday in Ames is like a lunar eclipse where everything lined up for it to happen. Since I'm not a fan of an annual cyhawk football game I dread cyhawk week and this just makes it more dreadful. Everything about it just makes it dreadful. WHO's RVTV, overly exuberent ISU fans and HyVee's commercialism of the game. Then there is that God awful CyHawk series and and the trophy for the winning team. To top it off the DMR's Randy Petersen articles daily about the developing ISU Football Prowess . The worse two things in Ames are Jamie Pollard and Matt Campbell who stoke their fans into belief ISU is omnipotent. Just dreadful.

Before the start of the season I felt ISU would win based on home field advantage and nothing else. Now I like the Hawkeyes chances a bit better. Iowa has shown ability to run a more diverse offense and the run defense looks pretty good. In ISU's case they are 3 and 2 over the last five games Their average margin of victory is 3 points. They lost to Texas by 14 and lost to Washington State by 2. And that was with Butler and Montgomery.

So the Hawkeyes have a chance.

ISU had trouble with Drake last year with Montgomery and Butler. UNI takes them to triple OT? Matt Campbell a rising star? If this is true he isn't long for Ames.
Purdy another in a long list of overhyped QB's. Lanning? Noland? Jantz? Kempf? And I know I am missing some others. This addition of ISU football possibly their best team ever? I ain;t buying any of their BS. All hat.
 
Did Chris Williams just spoo in his pants when the announcement was made? It would only be fitting since spoo rhymes with moo.....

Chris will be like the MSU blogger that went bat shit crazy when lil old Iowa beat the 'Dogs......this, my friends will be a lovely game to watch
 
Nothing would bring me more joy than to spank the clowns on the biggest stage they have ever been on. Best team in ISU history.... not by a mile. Last year maybe but this years team STINKS!
 
I will have our resilient young student athletes prepared. We mustn't overlook our rival Iowa State. It is important that we have good preparation this week.

Reading CF they seem to think if they wear black jerseys Hawk fans would melt down. It's cute because I don't know any fellow Hawk fans who would give a shit. It would just be that much funnier after we beat them by 3 TD's.
 
I have a different relationship to ISU than many on here...I am a Hawkeye fan by choice (mid-20s), not by birth, so I have not had a childhood of rooting against the Cyclones. I had a good friend who coached for them before I even became a Hawkeye fan, so I used to have a rooting interest. I am not going to tell anyone else how to feel since my situation is much different than most. But...

I hope I don't see much of the "this is their super bowl, and we don't even consider them a rival" crap this week. That just sounds so much like the drivel that is being spewed by the Nebraska fan base towards Iowa right now, it would be very disheartening to hear the same garbage coming from us.

This game is HUGE for Iowa. They are absolutely a rival, and the last 2 years have been white-knuckle affairs. We are playing a top-25ish team on the road, and we will probably be underdogs. Bragging rights are on the line, as well as pole-position for a loaded in-state 2021 recruiting class.

Iowa lost all of their games like this last year (i.e., games with big implications that they went into as slight underdogs). TIme to turn it around. They are a big rival, and hopefully we can put together a dominant performance for all of CFB to see.

The closest thing to “melting down” would be us laughing at the fact that they aren’t even wearing their school colors. You’ve really accepted your place as a bottom feeder MAC wannabe when you’re wearing your rival’s colors...

What makes it a garbage town other than you don't like the Cyclones? I've been in Iowa City quite a few times and grew up in Ames. I think both are among the best in Iowa.

Grew up thirteen miles away, worked there for 8 years -

The ONLY thing in Ames is the university. There's nothing else to do there. They have, like 2 good restaurants. The mall is a depressing, rundown craphole. It floods at a 500 - 1000 year level about once every five years, and half the businesses are under water. They burn garbage to produce power, and evidence is coming out due to cancer clusters that that might be killing people. It's the first exit going north where the interstate can be closed in the winter. There's nowhere to shop. The city is all low-slung one story storefronts that all look like dollar general.

It is always that way in Ames. Will be no different in the game than it was in 2017. Just need to make sure our new O lineman don't get jumpy when they can't hear.
