Fred Hoiberg to UCLA

Yeah...I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that he had a lot of help in crafting the proper message for that book. I've met the man and I can tell you what you posted above, doesn't ring true to me. I've got a healthy ego when it comes to competition and I'll be the 1st one to admit it. I can talk some trash too. I can admit that. Knowing who I am makes it easy for me to accept other competitors and their egos. I can get along just fine with other alphas and their egos. Steve Alford is exceedingly selfish and entitled, to go with his competitive ego. That's what makes him a terrible person and a mediocre coach.
He was exceedingly hard on himself as a player. It was almost like he tried to outstubborn Knight by playing the role of the martyr. Those types of people sometimes ride on the highest horses. Once he started throwing faith into the equation and started throwing people under the bus it was an easy transition to what he became as a person.

Clearly a ghost writer. Much like Noodles did some ghost coaching that made Alf stink less while at New Mexico.

I remember at least one passage from that book that forcasted the narcissist he became. He talked about seeing the movie Hoosiers at the theatre and tried to say the movie was about him.

Note: His New Castle high school team, coached by his dad and future Iowa assistant, lost to a team that featured Mike (future Wisconsin) and Chris (future Davison) Heineman.

Andre Banks used to abuse Mike Heineman.

Noodles is sitting out the remaining term of his buyout which goes through the end of 2019. He gets a cool mil for doing nothing more than watch his kid play overseas.

Once the buyout has expired you will see him on the bench again.
