Frans Buyout

How about B1G coaches

Chris Holtman - $18 million multiplied by six, or $108 million, to Ohio State
Archie Miller contract is 24 million until 2024 - If IU wants to buyout his contract, IU would owe Miller 100-percent of his remaining salary before March 31, 2022 and 50-percent of his remaining salary any date after that
Brad Underwood's is 8.5 million

Those are new contracts not contract extensions. Those guys are coming in with a clean slate not coming off a season where you missed the Tournament and had a horrible start to the season. The idea that Brad Underwood has been a job hopper and he signed a new contract with a lesser buyout than Fran is all you need to know.

Cool - You make some good points. Personally - I think it's all just out of control so when I see a # like that - I think - well, that's nuts but the nature of the industry they are in. B1G schools get 51 million a year just for TV. If Iowa wants to get rid of Fran, they will and money aint gonna be hang up

Reading the contract in depth makes it even dumber. If we fire him we have to pay him over 10 million dollars but if he takes another job the buyout from that end is only 2 million dollars. InGoodCo has to be Gary Barta.

Lets look on the bright side...as long as Barta is the AD...agents are going to be beating down the door to get their clients a head coaching gig at Iowa!!!

Well let's not give the media a pass here for the fun of it. So it wasn't till yesterday or today that they even 'investigated' it to find this out. With as bad as Iowa's been one would think they'd have done this sooner. It's easy to see why the school didn't release any kind of release bragging about it. If Iowa/Barta is anything they are somewhat self aware of how things look after how they've extended KF and all ....
Which to me is terrible because if you KNOW how that was going to look back then and then do what they did by not announcing it at all just to try temporarily avoiding this (media scrutiny) knowing full well it'd eventually come out then your just a special kind of stupid as they say...
I don’t frown on the media in this instance. How would they know to look for something like this when this is completely unprecedented? This is unheard of. Actually the only reason the information probably got requested in the first place was because of how bad this season has been going and they wanted to see what it would cost to fire Fran. Then they stumbled upon this craziness.

Maybe I am ... I think you guys are being rough on me today... That's ok I can take it. I am not a professional coach like you guys and I definitely don't do a lot of multi million dollar contracts. I'm sorry damn it.

They probably were hoping things on the court improved to make for a better climate. That have a certain amount of time to respond to the FOIA. My guess is they took all of it.

I can't help but laugh thinking of them after the Wisconsin win. "Is this our best option for announcing this? Yep, we better do it now, we might not get a better chance".
