Ferentz berating Herman

If he wanted to berate someone so everyone could see, he would have.

Instead he waited for Herman to get to the bench, and the came over and purposely came down to give him hell.

He knows what he was doing (in regards to getting in a player's face), that's all I am saying.

Anyone could see it. The only thing keeping it from being nationally broadcast was an inept BTN crew.

It wouldn't have matter, because the way he did it (with his head down and away from the cameras). Again, if my point doesn't make sense to you, that's fine. I've given you the reasons why I thought he did it right way, you don't have to agree. I know you don't agree with a lot of my points, that's fine.

I'll agree he didn't want to make a scene, but he didn't know he was away from the cameras. TV crews capture that kind of stuff all the time.

Its awesome that for KF's insane salary, he knows how to properly and professionally yell at a player. Its unfortunately those same qualities are severely lacking with his teams onfield performance.

So, in sum: KF = Bill Belichek in behind the scenes player ripping; KF = Bill Callahan in earning his paycheck as a CFB coach.

If you could see it, the camaras could see it.

Also, just so you know, I like a lot of your takes, but some of them don't make sense. This is one of them.

He has a lot of Belichek in him for better or for worse. Mentoring will do that to you.

Do you think that the camaras could have caught it?

If so, you don't make any rational sense.

If not, it's not that I don't get it. It's that you're flat out wrong.

You are nitpicking my entire post by focuses on "what the cameras" could catch. Again, Ferentz didn't berate him on the sidelines, he didn't come out to him on the field, he didn't act like some of the other idiot coaches that do that. He's smart enough to wait for the player to come to the sidelines, sit down, and he can do it there with as much obscurity as is allowable on a sideline. He lowered his head as well to get down to Brad's level and to make it as non-obvious as possible. That's a veteran coaching move.

That's the entire point of my post.

What parts do you think? Mainly I just see similarities in personality, or lack thereof in public. I could care less about that if KF, like BB, actually fields teams that don't consistently underperform and/or quit (i.e.--Minny last year). BB has also shown that he understands offenses have evolved a bit and there is no reason to pretend it is the 1950s when you have excellent receivers and a fairly accurate QB.

I could go on and on, but there is not much point. Clearly, I am a frustrated fan, angry that a school I have supported on numerous levels for years has a coaching staff comitting grand larceny before our very eyes.

So Kirk yells at a kid while we are leading by 2 TDs. We end up losing the game.

I'm not sure here but wouldn't you draw the conclusion that the speech maybe took the sails out of the kid?

Herman hasn't had wind in his sails at any point this year. He hasn't done a lot outside of drop passes and draw false start penalties to this point.

I think he knows how to direct his criticism at his players in a class fashion. If a player makes a mental error he may get a butt chewing on the bench without all the added camera's and body language. If on the rare occasion a Iowa player becomes flamboyant after a score or play he will probably get read the riot act for all to see. Two totally different reactions to two different situations. Stormin, I get your point and agree with your assessment. The guy is a class act and the way he handled the above two situations is the way I would want my kid to be dealt with in either of those situations.

Did anyone see Herman duck at one of the balls thrown to him instead of reach up and try and catch it with contact? I also wonder why White is in on that last series when there seems to be better options Coker has shown some ability to catch the ball. I agree if we are going to pass why is one of the worse pass blockers out there in Tobin? I also don't understand with as many times as Vandy was hit on his blind side you don't roll protection with a rb that way. I guess I was just confused on the usage of certain players.

Granted JVB was throwing into triple coverage to Herman on the last series but watch the replay and you will see zero effort on Herman's part to catch that pass. As far as the comments I've seen on here about Coker not being in on the last series - Coker was in the whole last series practically lined up right next to JVB in the shotgun.

Listen, there is no obscurity offered in the middle of a 50,000 seat stadium. If you're upset about the way Coach X berates someone and pleased with the way KF berates someone, you're inconsistent, plain and simple. It's Black and Gold BS.

Personally, I don't get worked up over either one, but to say KF berated him the "right way" is just ridiculous.

Coker was not in, I watched him come off the sidelines on 3rd down.
