From what I remember reading, McCabe also held out committing to Iowa because he wanted to see how many offers and how high a profile he could garner before committing.

From a recruiting standpoint these guys are on completely different levels
If you read further down in the article under the heading "The chase for bigs," it states that Royboy and Self are pursuing another highly regarded big, power forward Brandon Ashley, out of Oakland. They are also both after true center, Kaleb Taczewski. This doesn't necessarily mean they don't think they can sign Adam, but I am taking it as a good sign. Obviously they would probably take both, but I am hoping that Adam will break the trend and be that one top recruit that is willing to sign on and be the recruit that decides he wants to turn the Hawkeyes into a winner rather than just be another cog in the machine of these top ranked programs.
I am not trying to say whether he will or won't. My head and my fandomship are at odds about it. Why does the level of athlete matter? Can players at different levels not take part in the same practices?
I do a lot of things just to pad my resume. I am betting CEOs do too.
My point was McCabe didnt have offers rolling in from the top programs in the country. Woodbury waiting to weigh offers is not comparable to McCabe waiting to weight offers because the level of offers they each have is not even close to the same
McCabe had offers from Iowa, Butler and UNI. Him waiting out the process wasnt perceived as a big deal because he was a 2 star recruit. Woodbury waiting with Coach K and Roy possibly calling poses a slightly larger threat to Iowa landing him as a recruit
Notre Dame also started recruiting McCabe. I don't believe they ever offered but as he continued to hold out on his commitment to Iowa, he started getting more of what he wanted, even though he was going to go to Iowa regardless. I don't blame Woodbury, these kids know what happens when they commit early on. The recruiting services forget about you. Like he has said many times, he enjoys the process. In the end, no matter who offers, Adam is going to be a Hawk.
I agree.. unless you are top 5, if you commit early (especially to a non powerhouse) the services move on and I personally hate this. Its like some warped hype chess game by the recruiting services. They should be rated on talent/progression alone.
An example is Grant Jerrett 2012 PF out of California. Started out in the top 20 - 5 star, was said to be the best PF in the west and has not missed a beat, none of his competitors have out progressed him. Heck, he even grew a few inches. Latest Rivals 150 dropped him to 37 overall - 4 star I think, his crime? Committed to Arizona early.
Adam is working hard on the court, and he deserves the consideration of weighing all his options, taking some visits, and then making a decision in the fall, when most players commit. I think he will do all the above and then choose to become a Hawkeye,as Fran can show him his vision of a rising program close to home. Coming from a Hawkeye family,it is not like Barnes, who was an ISU family, with no loyalty to Iowa at all. Paige decided before Fran had a real chance of showing his mettle.
Fran will nab Adam,Gesell,Jok and Agau, and Iowa will be off and flying.
My thoughts exactly Babcock. As Adam continues his rise and when he commits to Iowa, it will help in the way of other top recruits taking a harder look at Iowa knowing a top rated kid just committed. Fran has this program on the rise and judging by his comments Adam see's this as well. Other recruits will follow.
