ESPN College Basketball Live Talks Iowa and the Bubble

there i only one Lick player and that is questionable in Gatens, with him committing as a sophamore to Alford, this is in reference to a poster on the first page, forget the RPI it is not the only thing they look at, 5th place in BT standings at 10-8, a overall record of 18-13, finishing the 2nd half 7-2, are all looked at. its nice to feel good about the big dance again, but it goes no where without a win against Illinois
May,Archie,and McCabe are Lick players.

Jay Williams said the game on Saturday against Northwestern could essentially be a play-in game to the NCAA Tournament.

Again, not sure I agree, but that's pretty cool to hear.

Jay Williams is not a good analyst. He tends to be overly emotional rather than rational.

Not according to posters on CF. 80% of them are convinced that they are a lock for the NT even if they lose their last 3 regular season games (likely), and their first game in the Big 12 tourney.

You made up the 80% number. Not true at all. Most think we have a good chance but need one more for a lock. If ISU loses their next 4 they I'd put odds on the NIT. Obviously it depends how other teams do.

Actually my poll finds that 100% of cyclone fans I have talked to about this say that they can loss all 3 and probably will loss the last 3 and still make it. My margin of error is 0, and the sampling size was 1. ;)

Iowa Basketball = ISU football
That may be the most ridiculous comparison ever. Not even close to being accurate. Iowa basketball is at very worst a Top 15-20 program of all time. ISU football is historically one of the worst BCS teams ever. A few years away from the norm does not change either one of these facts. http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2009/1004/cbe1.pdf

I believe that when ESPN released that college basketball encyclopedia a couple years ago, they had us rated as the 10th most prestigious program of all time.

Well I was responding directly to the posters comment amount how they are so excited about just being talked about and yadda yadda yadda. Act like you've been there before. I wasn't comparing the history of the programs, rather the common reactions of the fanbases. So.....

Yeah, Iowa State is literally one of the worst programs in college football history. Iowa is no where near one of the worst programs in college basketball history.

Sure ya were bud....sure ya were.

Iowa will need to win the final 3 and then at least make it to the B10 chamionship to even be considered. The committee will look at the bad losses and immediately write them off. You can't lose to bad teams and make it in.

I guess it's all on what you are looking for. It's all very subjective. Here is what I found when I googled "all time top basketball programs" first 6 from that page. Sargarins and Espn was one of the 6 articles.

Of course its subjective. Different websites/publications are going to have different lists. Im guessing Iowa would be somewhere between 10-20 when it comes to ranking their all-time basketball program if you gathered every list out there.

And really? 2 articles from Bleacher Report?
