Absolutely. We should have beat this team by 4 touchdowns.
Look we took care of business in the end and that matters the most. However, the first half was embarrassing taking 2 fakes to be up 4 points on some bums.
Depends on your definition of embarrassing. It was embarrassing reading some of the douchey posts during that first half.

Guilty as charged, I was ready to meltdown. Everything we saw the first half was a microcosm of iowa football good and bad. You can dump on me on this one, I was on verge of giving up on the season.
As this game has developed, Iowa has looked worse and worse. Ferentz has one half to wake this freaking team up and come up with an identity for this team.
Let a bad team hang and this is what you get.
Definitely.....this staff needs 3 quarters of hitting the wall to set the other team up.C'mon, Hayden, we're a second half, halftime adjustments team.
Seriously, though, I think we saw a rookie qb playing a bit confused for the 1st half. He was certainly out of rhythm. He righted the ship in the 2nd half. A lot of good things on film to look at over the bye week. I'm going to predict this offense hits its stride after bye week. OSU a loss, WUs a loss, all others winnable. I'll take 5-4 with a rookie qb.
What I really liked were the pass plays with the QB under center. Many of those were 7 step drop type passes and nit play action which is fine. Those will absolutely work for us because defenses are keying on our formation. Should help the run game to. Passing from shotgun really doesn't do anything to support the run game.Very surprised to read all the negative reactions to today's game. If anything I thought we looked sloppy on defense in the first half but Illinois has the right guy at quarterback it looks like now and for a half Lovie seemed to have them playing better football.
I liked what i saw on offense today aside from running Wadley between the tackles on a fourth down we didn't make in the first half. We remain a work in progress on offense but is it just me who thought our play calling seemed much better today? Brian quickly went from trying to establish the run at all costs like we have seen the last couple games to using the passing game to set up the run and it changed the whole complexion of the game. Stanley seems off and on in his accuracy but IMO has a bright future. I just don't think that the fact that we soundly beat a young, not very good Illinois team should detract from the positives.
If anyone needs Trj, this is where you can find him........Guilty as charged, I was ready to meltdown. Everything we saw the first half was a microcosm of iowa football good and bad. You can dump on me on this one, I was on verge of giving up on the season.
I wouldn't say we dominated the second half. After Snyders interception with 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter things took a turn score wise, but we didn't dominate anything today. Especially a team starting 11 true freshman.Struggled in the first half and dominated in the second half. Fortunately it was only Illinois so we could afford to start slow.

I would tend to agree re: 2nd half domination. Even after the pick 6, they still came right back and scored a FG, making it a one score game. Granted, we would have gotten more offense if we didn't have the pick 6, but by my count we ran 11 plays for 50 yards in the 3rd quarter (2.5 possessions...3rd possession started in the 3rd and finished in the 4th with MVB's TD catch). Illinois ran 20 plays for 109 yards and got a FG. So I would say that the game was still very much in doubt in that 3rd quarter. But we made enough big plays in the passing game to put the game out of reach in the 4th.I wouldn't say we dominated the second half. Ya'll do realize this Illinois squad is probably the youngest P5 team in the nation? You do realize they are being led by a Red Shirt Freshman in his first start right?
